- Johnny answers questions from the audience. Buddy Hackett (book "The Naked Mind of Buddy Hackett"); Cass Elliot talks about watching soap operas; artist Dong Kingman; fire breather Jan Munroe.
- There is no band due to a musicians' strike. In the comedy segment, Johnny chats with Ed about various things, including a $23,000 government study of why children fall off bicycles and tricycles (Johnny reveals the stunning result: they lose their balance or bump into things), and an overview of the recent PATSY Awards for animal actors. Johnny then answers questions from the audience, and converses with an audience member who would like to go to the Magic Castle; as the show's art director is a member, Johnny believes it can be arranged. Jan Munroe is a Renaissance fair performer who demonstrates fire breathing (different from fire eating). He is also a mime who studied with Marcel Marceau, and trained in other related skills such as tightrope and stilt-walking. He demonstrates fire breathing and teaches Johnny how. Johnny is very apprehensive, and while discussing his concerns, Buddy Hackett comes out with a fire extinguisher. After some preliminary practicing of basic technique, Johnny successfully tries it. Hackett comes out and talks about his mother's Jewish cooking. He then read poems from his book "The Naked Mind of Buddy Hackett", and explains the cover illustration showing his doubts about psychiatry. Cass Elliot comes out and talks about how she was ill when she was scheduled to appear several weeks before; she tripped and was injured the previous time she appeared. She talks about how she enjoys watching soap operas due to boredom when she travels, and she and Johnny discuss the various plot contrivances that are used; she recalls once treating a stranger very rudely, then realizing it was because he was an actor whose soap opera character she hated. She also tells how she appeared on "The Dating Game" on an episode with her mother; she's been friends with producer Chuck Barris for years. She says all her choices were losers - which bothered her, as she was friends with the show's crew - and she didn't go on the date. She does not perform, due to the musicians' strike; Johnny promises she will sing next time. Dong Kingman is an artist who first shows sketches he has made during the show, then some watercolor landscapes for which he is well known. He also talks about doing Frank Sinatra's portrait.—lenab9011
