A man is killed and a wagon raided on the train. Money and title to lands in California are stolen. Feathers and a tomahawk indicate Indians did it but the theft of a crucifix from the dead man indicates white men to Flint and the Major. Flint is sent to track them down and recover the lost items. He finds Judy Rositer and her mother who was forced to marry a rather coarse man after her husband was killed in a raid. The husband, Ned, is suspected by the Indians of leading the raids and when Judy shows Flint the medal stolen from the dead man, Flint starts looking for the stolen items. The wife helps look and after Flint finds them, he decides to take the two women to the wagon train. However, Ned and his friends give chase forcing a gun battle. Luckily for Flint, his Pawnee friends are on Ned's trail as well and lend a hand.
