Geraldine Page was starring in the Broadway revival of Eugene O'Neill's experimental five hours-long play 'Strange Interlude' (1928) at the Martin Beck Theatre. The production would close in the end of the month after 97 performances. The plot had previously been adapted into Strange Interlude (1932).
Mary Detreault, the last contestant, was a flight attendant for New York Airways (1949-1979), which flew the 25-seat Boeing Vertol 107-II passenger helicopters between Manhattan and New York City area airports in the 1960s.
