Wonder Woman heads to Texas!
coltras3510 April 2022
A different WW episode with our crowned and lassoed heroine heading to Texas to help the major tackle some rustlers. Like usual, the major has to be rescued by Wonder Woman. What makes this episode special though is the appearance of Roy Rogers who is his usual amiable and caring self. There's a lot of warmth and heart in this episode especially because it's centred around war ophans. Linda Carter's WW doesn't just imbue strength but a good nature and positivity. A good role model for kids of the 1970's.

Cowgirl WW!
Joxerlives9 January 2012
Warning: Spoilers
The Bushwhackers Utterly bizarre, Wonder Woman the western! You figure that they had Roy Rogers and all these western sets and thought, "Hey, this'll be cheap". Watching the General abuse his position to basically help out an old friend and then trying to justify it to himself and Steve is pretty laughable. First of the alternate Wonder Woman outfits, Cowgirl WW. Reputedly Roy Rogers was uncomfortable with WW running around all the kids in just a 'bathing suit' so they gave her some chaps and otherwise covered her up. WW on a horse still an awesome sight though, was that really Lynda?. Always thought it was bizarre that people objected to Katy Perry in her cleavage revealing outfit on Seasame Street when they let WW run around dressed like an ultra-patriotic dominatrix. Although worth it for her later appearance as the skimpy Elmo t-shirt clad librarian who "Must have developed over the summa" on the Saturday Night Live sketch "Todays show is brought to you by the number 38 and the letters double-D"

Henry Darrow as the villain, my favourite actor from The High Chaparal (MUCH better than Bonanza) who will later recur as a villain in the later seasons. Wonder Woman depowered incredibly easily, very unusual to have corrupt cops in a series largely aimed at children in the 1970s. The orphan stuff is actually OK, they're not too annoying and Rogers character strikes you as just the sort of patriarchal guy who would do something like this. They're racially mixed, still a rarity in the 40/70s and you can actually buy the idea that the natural born son is jealous of the adoptees (very Wuthering Heights). Still seems a little lame given Wonder Woman's superpowers that she could have such a lot of trouble with just a gang of rustlers. But it's nice to have villains who aren't Nazis as every third person in 1940s America seems to be a German spy to judge by this series. Contrary to myth this wasn't Roy Rogers final role, he later appears in a couple of eps of The Fall Guy in the early 80s. 6/10

notorious for a few reasons
trashgang22 January 2013
This episode is notorious for a few reasons. First of all it takes place in Texas so here come cowboys and just look who, Roy Rogers famous for a lot of western flicks and series. It was one of his last performances on film captured. He only appeared after wards in The Fall Guy (1984).

Not only that, being a bit conservative and playing with a sexy looking wonder woman he just couldn't dig it so here we have it. In come the cattle rustlers and in comes wonder women sometimes covered with her star and stripes cape but look a bit further, With the kids she is dressed up.

The invisible airplane is back and wonder woman clothes in the ranch makes it something special. As always Steve is being captured....It's so strange that the producers agreed to Roy demands. Nevertheless, excellent for a wonder woman episode and no Nazis to see this time, also don't forget Henry Darrow another famous actor (Zorro fame). A few corrupt cops and mixed adoptees. Very strange for the seventies.

Roy Rogers - Rides into the Sunset
georgesellars-126 May 2007
Yeah, last appearance of Roy Rogers on TV / Film according to this Database. Have just watched it on Living (sky - UK). He played a rancher troubled with rustlers who has a multi-national gang of kids as his children. Wonder Woman sorts out his problem but main point is Roy still looks like his 1950's picture's (almost). It was such a surprise to see him in something as cult as Wonder Woman. Was it some sort of guest appearance, maybe he was a friend of the Producer / Director. Could Lynda Carter be a big fan of his from the 50's. Anyone with a view (from that era) of how he fitted into this casting role please respond, it tickle's my interest

THE ONLY WILD WEST EPISODE
asalerno1010 May 2022
This episode is unique for several reasons. First for being the only one in the entire series set in the Wild West, second for being the only one in which Wonder Woman used a different outfit, and third for marking the return of the legendary Roy Rogers to TV. The writers found a very clever way for this story to make sense, an old friend of General Blankenship who is a rancher sends part of his cattle to the United States Army, but is continually stalked by a gang of cattle rustlers, that's how Steve became involved in the problem and obviously Wonder Woman too. It is a pleasure to see the legendary Roy Rogers return to his work as well as another legend of the western series like Henry Darrow.

MORE than good enough for me.
davidhiggins-8975618 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
What some viewers of these three Wonder Woman seasons are not entirely getting, is that the story line is almost a secondary thing. ......... .......... In all of them we get to see Lynda Carter in her Wonder Woman costume, THAT for me is what makes the show. That is what most folks are tuning in for. ......... What more do people want in an episode when they are getting Lynda Carter and her portrayal of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman and from time to time some action while in her Wonder Woman costume.

The scripts, a few of them a bit daft at times can be enjoyed or risen above instead, but they are just the platform and the framework for enjoying Lynda Carter and her portrayal of Wonder Woman.

Yes Lynda Carter in her costume as Wonder Woman and a captivating script & story line is a tad bit better. ........ In this particular episode, we find it is Directed by Stuart Margolin, best known for his acting role of 'Angel' in the Rockford Files. ...... A multi talented guy that is a music producer as well as many other talents.

This episode was good enough for me, ok it was a bit kiddyfied at times, but lets remember young kids would also sit around their TV in the 1970's watching this series, and later on in re-runs, young kids from aged 5 years and above.

So maybe once in a while they deserved an episode involving other young kids. Something on their level they could directly identify with. ..... This episode was 'partially' involving young kids, it wasn't fully about them. I have no problem with that.

In this 'The Bushwackers' episode there was plenty of car chase action and Lynda Carter herself doing actual horse riding. I enjoyed that immensely. ........ That I hadn't seen before, all as Wonder Woman in her usual costume and even some horse riding in red top & white pants Wonder Woman casual day wear.

Some of the more dangerous scenes later on chasing the kid tangled up almost falling off his horse on the roofed wooden bridge, may or may not have been partially a stunt double, not too worried about that. .... But we did get to see Wonder Woman horse riding, which I found to be a real thrill and it was COOL. ..... It was a real COOL thrill.

A harmless enough script involving both Human Greed and a stand up Ranch guy, Roy Rogers we hear. .......... I'm not too conversant with his previous US based TV western type appearances & no doubt movie work as well, bit before my time. .......... But he seemed at home on set, an old hand at acting, having the confidence and experience. His age old fans must have enjoyed seeing him again.

He was playing a wholesome character adopting some kids, and having his own son betraying him due to Jealousy, manipulated & worked upon by the bad guy, who used to be a good guy in High Chaparral. ....... Taking the risk of a role reversal. So we had two other well known stars in this episode.

I just couldn't give any episode of these 70's Wonder Woman series anything less than 10. ......... If Lynda Carter in her Wonder Woman Costume is in an episode, as thankfully they all were then that is MORE than good enough for me.

The as usual fine acting by Lynda Carter, I enjoy her acting a great deal, and the good acting of the main cast & a usually decent enough script and action for the amount of budget spent on a season is also good enough for me.

I never watch them to see hardly anything else, Lynda Carter's fine acting & portrayal as Diana Prince, (as well as her usual fantastic performance as Wonder Woman), is also great to see, looking so great and neat in her Yeoman Navy uniform in season 1.

I'm overall never disappointed with any episode because to me Lynda Carter and her portrayal as Wonder Woman over shadows everything else in the episode. ........ Smooths & mellows the rest of it all out for me. ...... Just as Wonder Woman herself smooths and mellows those around her. .......... I consider wanting anything much more than that is missing the point.

Over all then this episode, a little bit off beat still fitted in well with the rest of season 1. ........ Season 1 being produced so that it was not consisting entirely about fighting the Nazi's even though it was set in WWII. Then of cause we moved on to more modern times in later seasons.

PS, a HD version of all 3 seasons is available, it makes it all so much better, especially on a real big HD or 4K TV.

Worst Wonder Woman episode
cweb77728 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Wonder Woman is forced to cover up her costume for some reason or another. She is depowered in this episode. Well she can lift a huge boulder but fails to fight two rustlers.

Wonder Woman and Roy Rogers, nothing can be finer
MiketheWhistle15 July 2018
Typical episode which is enhanced by having Roy Rogers who is one of the best cowboys there was.Story line was plausible, had normal "action", and worth the time.
