Corruption in dealing with Indians is the theme of this Young Rider story. Ty Miller comes across a massacred family and a mixed blood Sioux warrior played by
Rob Estes who swears he has nothing to do with the incident. Miller brings
him back to Sweetwater where few believe him and a few want to lynch him.
I'll say that this episode is an example of the corruption in dealing with the various tribes. The Department of the Interior created in 1849 was for most of the 19th century a cesspool of corruption and it was a patronage paradise for the deserving hacks of either party.
What you see here is exaggerated maybe, but quite typical.
