Wow! Great film!
A beautiful documentary that brings poetry to the rough life of fishermen and fisherwomen. The film weaves the stories of the poets and their gatherings mixed with excellent cinematography capturing their physically demanding work on the boats. One can almost taste the salt in the air combined with the smell of freshly caught fish. As you learn about the lives of each of the different poets, you can see their personalities come out in the poetry they write and share at the gatherings. You walk away feeling a bond with these fascinating people. I had the pleasure of viewing this film at the San Francisco film festival in February 2006. It's hard to believe that this is Jennifer Winston's first film. A must see for anyone who loves a rich story about real people. You'll never buy farm-raised salmon again!
