Solid story
searchanddestroy-130 October 2015
Here, we are in the deep Roaring 20's atmosphere, showing us the topic of the dance marathon, as it was used to be at this time. It of course made me think of Sidney Pollack's THEY SHOOT HORSES DON'T THEY. But only for the dance marathon's scheme. Besides, the story itself is not uninteresting either, far from that. See for yourself, watching Claude Akins as a corrupt police officer is always exquisite for a noir lover as I am. I will say that you watch here some pretty good performances, the kind you may not expect from a simple TV series episode. Especially when they describe the dance marathon details, tricks, backstage stuff. Remember the Sid Pollack's film adapted from Horace McCoy's novel was not made yet. Interesting sub characters for poignant scenes. One of the best of the series so far.
