The plumbing is in need of repair at Gull Cottage and Mrs. Muir (Hope Lange) calls upon the landlord Claymore Gregg (Charles Nelson Reilly). She unsuccessfully attempts to trick the penny-pincher into fixing it by saying she is arranging to feature him and the house in a story. Captain Gregg (Edward Mulhare) plants a scavenger treasure hunt through maps that cleverly requires him to make repairs to continue.
