Frank Sinatra Jr.'s appearance in this episode came about a year after he had been kidnapped from his hotel room at Harrah's Lake Tahoe on 8 December 1963. His father, Frank Sinatra, offered to pay a $1,000,000 ransom for his son's safe return (almost $10,000,000 in 2023 after inflation). The kidnappers inexplicably asked for only $240,000 (a little more than 2,000,000 in 2023), which was paid, and, by 10 December 1963, he was safely returned.
The title of this episode is borrowed from Every Girl Should Be Married (1948), starring Cary Grant and Betsy Drake, which also includes schemes for getting a couple married.
Cathy calls David Stone a long-haired musician, suggesting that, as such, his interest would fall more in the category of classical music and books, legitimate theater, etc., which does fit the character to a T. Up until the mid-60s, the term long-haired alluded to one who would subscribe to that kind of lifestyle and culture. But then came the The Beatles and, thereafter, long-haired musician has taken a different direction in its application and implications, i.e. rock-and-roll, counterculture, etc.
In rehearsing an introduction to David, Cathy and Patty mention the names Gonzalez, Mickey Mantle, and Gluck. The names refer to baseball players Tony Gonzalez & Mickey Mantle, and composer Christoph Willibald Gluck.
