- Eddie comes home after having a very bad day at work and gets into an argument with Richie when Richie learns Eddie has spent £11.80 on a second hand copy of a Parade magazine which they had to last them for 2 months. But Richie finds Eddie has spent the rest of the money and place a bet on the Miss World competition and has placed a bet on Miss China.—Daniel Williamson
- Richie is preparing a fake suicide, leaving a note to Eddie, it's a ploy to get Eddie to buy him a drink. Eddie enters through the front door and Richie sticks his head in the oven. Eddie enters in a sour mood and thumps his briefcase on Richie's note, Richie rushes to the window for air, realizing his plan failed. He asks Eddie about his day, Eddie lost eight and a half hours and his dole money was cut off, leaving them only £11.80.
Eddie doesn't have that money anymore, he spent £1.50 on a second-hand copy of Parade magazine and has only 30p on him. Richie says Parade is only a porn mag and Eddie claims the Sistine Chapel painting is too because of the three women in the section of Noah drunk. He consults the image in a book from Richie's collection and it opens on that exact page, implications are made that Richie masturbates regularly to that painting and a brief argument ensues.
Richie goes to make their dinner with ingredients that "grown, found or foraged", he spits on Eddie's plate and Eddie sits at Richie's intended seat, not that matters as the food is inedible, Eddie goes to watch T.V. Richie won't let him, they scuffle over the channel dial and knock the set over, Richie throws Eddie out.
While Richie is putting the T.V. back he sees the channel set to Miss World on ITV and goes to pleasure himself, Eddie is on the landing preparing an apology and walks in on Richie, they promise to keep it secret if Richie lets them watch the show. Richie wonders what woman would like him and believes he was born in the wrong time, he absent-mindedly puts his hand on a hot kettle.
He then makes pretend calls, during one pretends he's speaking to a ransom buyer asking a insanely high-price and they don't have that money because Eddie spent it. It dawns on Richie, if Eddie had £11.80 and spent £1.50 on Parade how come he only has 30p? He should have £10.30. Eddie says he made a bet on Miss World, the bet is on Miss China who unseen to the audience is quite ugly.
The television loses reception and Eddie fixes it with a pat on the box, Richie tries the same and blows the electrical fuse in the room. In the darkness Richie burns his hand twice on the kettle, Eddie gets him to hold a live wire in place until the results are in. The winner is Miss France, Richie lets go of the wire, he stumbles in the dark burning his hand and falling out of the window.
Eddie has fixed the electrics and finds the suicide note, believing Richie is dead he is saddened and starts looking for stuff to pawn off when Richie walks in severely injured. The boys are livid over losing a potential £10,000 bet and blame each other, Eddie says even if they'd won he wouldn't have shared it with Richie, he wouldn't want to retire to the Caribbean and Richie's ego ruining his fun.
An outraged and hurt Richie heads for the door only to sit down next to Eddie and complain loudly why can't they win anything. Eddie says that people like them aren't born winners, as consolation Eddie admits he never made the bet and only said so because Richie would let them watch Miss World.
Richie asks where the missing money went, Eddie saw him foraging for dinner ingredients when he left in the morning, and he bought himself some real food on the way home. Richie clocks Eddie.
