Six months after going missing in the Mount Baldy wilderness outside Los Angeles, it has been confirmed today that veteran actor Julian Sands has passed away at the age of 65.
The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department said in an official statement today, “The identification process for the body located on Mt. Baldy on June 24, 2023, has been completed and was positively identified as 65-year-old Julian Sands of North Hollywood. The manner of death is still under investigation, pending further test results.
“We would like to extend our gratitude to all the volunteers that worked tirelessly to locate Mr. Sands,” this afternoon’s statement continued.
Here in the horror world, Julian Sands is best known for playing the titular Warlock in the 1989 horror movie Warlock, reprising his role in 1993’s Warlock: The Armageddon.

He’s taken one of the most fascinating and unconventional routes with his stardom.
The thinkpiece-industrial complex is running at full speed this spring to update the cinephile community’s consensus of major stars. In case you’re behind, adjust your opinions to reflect the following changes: Reese Witherspoon is still good, Kristen Stewart is now really good, Anne Hathaway is great because her haters were sexist, and Nicole Kidman is underappreciated despite receiving an Oscar nomination this very year.
One star whose evaluation has yet to appear from the hot take factory is Robert Pattinson, who features in two theatrical releases this April, Werner Herzog’s Queen of the Desert (quickly dumped in theaters and VOD over two years after its 2015 Berlin premiere) and James Gray’s The Lost City of Z. On the Road movie reedited for Toronto screening Based on Jack Kerouac's '50s novel, Walter Salles' Otr adaptation starring Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley, and Kristen Stewart (above photo) will be screened at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival. We all knew that. What we didn't know is that Tiff 2012 will unveil a new cut of the film (via indieWIRE), which premiered last spring at the Cannes Film Festival to mixed reviews. The 2hr20m drama has been downsized to approximately 125 minutes. That's an interesting development, as Otr has already been screened in several countries, with varying degrees of box-office success. [Check out the On the Road trailer. Check out Kristen Stewart On the Road poster; Garrett Hedlund On the Road poster.] Otr movie reedit hardly unique On the other hand, different cuts shown in different countries is hardly something new. Whether as a result of poor critical/box-office reception, (perceived) local sensibilities, and/or censorship, the movie you watch in, say, Canada isn't necessarily the exact same movie watched by someone in Singapore,...

One minute Robert Pattinson was an out-of-work musician, then Twilight turned him into Britain's second-highest paid actor. As the hugely successful vampire saga approaches its end, he tells Sanjiv Bhattacharya how frightening it is to emerge back into the daylight
When asked about the pressures of fame, Emma Watson (Hermione in the Harry Potter series) said she was thankful she wasn't Robert Pattinson. "I can't even imagine what that kind of fame must be like," she said. "So many people must wish they were in his position and think he has the best life, but actually there are prices you pay. Don't interpret that from my perspective. It's not so bad for me. I'm not in Rob's position: I don't have people screaming and crying and clawing at me. I'm so grateful for that."
It says something when the star of Harry Potter thinks that you're the one who's too famous.

One of Robert Pattinson's earlier works, a short film entitled The Summer House, is available on iTunes today for $1.99.
According to MTV, "First-time director Daisy Gili said she actually cast Rob because she was recommended him by Campbell Mitchell, who had worked on props for another of his early projects, The Haunted Airman. 'He said, this guy is amazing, and he's really nice, and I think he'd be really up for working on a short film,' Gili told MTV News. 'I saw a picture of him and I thought, he's fantastic.'"
Many more details about the film are available at MTV's Hollywood Crush.

Robert Pattinson may be the heart throb of teen girls everywhere but just a few years ago he was a struggling actor just looking to find his break in Hollywood. In The Many Faces of Robert Pattinson we take a look at his career the roles he has played and where he is going from here.
Despite the fact that many think that Robert Pattinson is nothing more then a teen heart throb his young career clearly shows that he is much about films with substance as he is about being a star. Twilight has made Robert a household name but believe it or not Robert Pattinson has played much more then just a vampire heart throb

It's happened with Kristen Stewart and The Yellow Handkerchief, with Robert Pattinson and his film The Haunted Airman, and now it's happening with The Bad Mother's Handbook as well: a film that was previously unreleased onto DVD is getting a new life thanks to the actor's Twilight fame.

The DVD release date for Robert Pattinson's Remember Me has been revealed to be June 22nd of this year!
The film was released to U.S. theaters on March 12th, 2010, and it has brought in a little over $17.6 million domestically (around $23 million worldwide).
Remember Me is not Robert Pattinson's first lead role (not by a long-shot), as he has portrayed the main character in films like How To Be, Little Ashes, and The Haunted Airman before. It is, however, the first non-Twilight film he's done since becoming a globally household name.
Pattinson is currently filming Bel Ami, his second such film, in Europe.

Terminator – The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Terminator Salvation
DVD & Blu-ray, Warner, Sony
If nothing else, watching McG's Terminator Salvation at least puts Christian Bale's infamous on-set meltdown into perspective; if you had to pretend to be angry for so long in front of the camera then you'd probably end up angry in real life. Bale's angry John Connor is a one-note performance, the problem being it's the wrong note. That's not the only drawback: McG has a similar one-dimensional take on the material. He seems to think the Terminator films are about robots and explosions and nothing else. And Bale has to share the narrative with Sam Worthington's turn as an unwilling cyborg, the result being the film plays as if it has two competing co-stars and no real direction. Far more Terminator-ish is the now-cancelled TV series The Sarah Connor Chronicles, led by Lena Headey. Science-fiction television shows,...

After seeing Twilight: New Moon last night at a press screening, I was unsure about many things. But of the things that I was sure about, one was that Robert Pattinson was not a good actor. Never has an actor so stale and so hollow been so successful in such a short period of time. Anyone who suffered through his performance in both Twilight and The Haunted Airman could tell you that. But upon seeing him in this new trailer for Remember Me, a romantic drama in which he stars opposite Lost's Emilie de Ravin, I can see where Pattinson might have a little bit of chops yet. At least, in this trailer he shines (a bit) next to an overcooked accent from Pierce Brosnan and the lovely de Ravin. I can't say that I'm excited about the film, as it looks as operatic and melodramatic as anything else on the market (though not quite as...

Robert Pattinson finds himself facing the same mountain that Daniel Radcliffe has begun to successfully scale: living down the pop-culture mantle cast upon him. Unlike Radcliffe however, Pattinson has wisely chosen to start the process with all due haste so as not to be forever known as “that Twilight vampire guy”. However, before Twilight was even a twinkle on his horizon, he made The Haunted Airman, a made-for-television movie first aired in the UK in 2006 and canned until this 2009 release when the American audience will get another taste of pre-Twilight Pattinson. Unfortunately, there's a strong parallel between the two roles. It may help show that he can do more than brood and talk wistfully about a romance he can't let himself have (although there is an element of that here as well) but there's still one distracting drawback: he still looks like a vampire. So much so that it outshines...

The Wizard Of Oz 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector’S Edition (Warner Bros.) A true highlight in digital restoration technology, Warner Bros. restoration of the 1939 classic is cause for celebration. The Technicolor of the late ‘30s looks as though it was shot yesterday, and is especially stunning on Blu-ray, which was produced by scanning each of the film’s original Technicolor camera negatives using 8K resolution. From this scan, a final “capture” master was created in 4K, yielding twice the resolution seen in the master utilized for the film’s previous DVD release. Judy Garland’s Dorothy is charming as ever, and the entire cast: Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr, Jack Haley and Margaret Hamilton as the Wicked Witch, are all stellar. Four disc set bonuses include: Sing-along track; Documentaries and featurettes; Two 1914 silent films produced by Oz author L. Frank Baum, based on his stories...

While out of town on personal business I had a little difficulty tracking down this weeks DVD releases. Unable to fall back on my trusty local shops, I was forced to rely on outside sources to lead me to decent outlets. And though I was lead to a few fair retailers, I was still unable to snag a few of the flicks I was seeking; Gnaw, The Objective, and Imurders are three particular releases I was anticipating that sadly, evaded my grasp. Perhaps once back home I'll be able to provide a little coverage on the aforementioned films; for now, we'll discuss the two discs I did manage to obtain.

The Haunted Airman is based on Dennis Wheatley.s The Haunting of Toby Jugg. That won.t matter much to most as the reason it might fly off the shelves is that Twilight.s Robert Pattinson is in it. There.s not much mushy stuff so don.t expect much happiness from screaming tweens. During World War II, Lt. Toby Jugg (Robert Pattinson) is injured during a bombing run. He.s confined to a wheelchair and has been sent to the rural clinic of Dr. Hal Burns (Julian Sands) to recuperate. His Aunt Julia (Rachael Stirling) has taken him there and he appears to be overly familiar with her. However, he soon starts seeing visions of spiders and that perhaps Dr. Burns doesn.t have...

Bright flashes greeted him at every turn. His face was the centerpiece of every magazine, and his name was a-tip every tongue in the free world. In 1997, Leonardo DiCaprio made his big break with Titanic, and the world would not forget his name. At twenty-three years old, DiCaprio had already earned one Academy Award nomination for his work with Johnny Depp and Juliette Lewis in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape? and had stunned his fair share of audiences with his brilliant portrayal of Jim Carroll in The Basketball Diaries. Some were hard-pressed to forget his name after his newcomer addition to the cast of Growing Pains back in 1991. His work in Romeo + Juliet would capture the hearts of many, and his work with Sharon Stone, Gene Hackman, and Russell Crowe in The Quick And The Dead allowed DiCaprio to pass muster with film aficionados the world over. Yet, nothing could...

There's speculation online about whether Twilight heart-throb Robert Pattinson will renew his contract to appear in Breaking Dawn, the planned fourth film in the franchise.
Pattinson's character Edward Cullen is a central part of Stephenie Meyer's original novel, which takes the character's relationship with Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) to new and dramatic levels.
But the 23-year-old actor's contract with fim-makers Summit Entertainment reportedly only covers the first three movies - Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse - and some fans and online commentators are speculating he may then opt out (or should opt out) to pursue other projects.
Pattinson previously had roles in films including Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, The Haunted Airman and The Bad Mother's Handbook.
He's also in Little Ashes, in which he plays surrealist painter Salvador Dali who has a love affair with poet Federico Garcia Lorca. The film came out on limited release...

Marc Malkin just addressed the question of whether Twilight and The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse star Robert Pattinson will be joining the cast of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. Malkin says (video available below) that he doesn't see any reason why Pattinson would not join the cast. Some of Pattinson's fans, however, see the equation a little differently. Some fans of his are not Twilight fans, per se. Instead, they grew to love Pattinson for his work on films like The Bad Mother's Handbook, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and The Haunted Airman and more recent films like How To Be and Little Ashes. One such group is the IMDb message board frequenters. These commenters cover all aspects of Pattinson's work in their discussions, but they aren't all Twilight fans. Tend to think that Pattinson would do well to abandon the Twilight ship...

Robert Thomas Pattinson was born on May 13, 1986 in London, England. Rob's parents names are Clare and Richard. His mother worked for a model agency and his father with U.S. imported cars. Robert was sent to boarding school and kicked out of it when he was a pre-teen! He went to a number of boarding schools and had a knack for modeling. One of Rob's first jobs was being a hand model. He became a woman's hand model because people thought he had girly hands! He first came to the United States when he was a teen and met his first girlfriend in Texas and they kept in touch till later years. As many would think, Rob was a natural at acting, but he actually didn't begin acting until he was older. He lived in Barnes, a small suburb in London, England and picked up acting at a local theater.
