Jay Cutler has a new lady in his life—and she's a familiar one. The retired football pro has gone on "at least one date" with newly divorced Jana Kramer, a source confirmed to E! News. According to the insider, the athlete told his ex Kristin Cavallari about their outing beforehand. So how did the Uncommon James founder take it? Well, she's cut Kramer out of her life—at least on social media. "She does not care and is not bothered, but she has blocked Jana over it," the source said. "She doesn't have room for this in her life." The women, who were both cast in the 2009 comedy Spring Breakdown, appeared friendly over the years as they both...

It's almost time for another big award show, and you know what that means: I feel alive again. The Emmys are this Sunday, which gives us a nice opportunity to elevate one deserving nominee to the high, feathered echelons of gay iconography. I'm going with Amy Poehler, the fab star of Parks and Recreation who's both goofy and deadpan, and always, always, always smart. Here are five reasons her mural should hang in every WeHo Starbucks.
1. She was absolutely hilarious as a Trevor Live emcee.
Just last year, Poehler hosted Trevor Live, the Trevor Project's annual fundraiser, and riveted the crowd with her running commentary. She told presenters Zachary Quinto and Amber Heard, "God would have sex with both of you." Following Jc Chasez's rendition of "True Colors," she remarked, "God just cried. God isn't made of wood, people." Like all great comedians, Poehler recognizes the seriousness of tough issues like bullying and Lgbt discrimination,...

That noise you just heard was gazillions of fans (including all of us at Zap2it) shouting "Noooo!"
The rumors are true -- "Parks and Recreation" star Amy Poehler and her longtime love, "Arrested Development's" Will Arnett, are splitting after 9 years together. Us Weekly reports that the split is "amicable."
The couple married on August 29, 2003, and have two sons -- three-year-old Archie and two-year-old Abel. In addition to their separate credits, the TV stars have appeared together on in "Blades of Glory," "Horton Hears a Who!" "Spring Breakdown," and more. Arnett also guest starred on "Parks and Rec," as did Poehler on "Arrested Development."
Arnett and Poehler are both likely to appear at the Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, Sept. 23. Poehler is nominated for lead comedy actress and in the comedy writing category for "Parks and Rec." Arnett's role in "30 Rock" earned him a nomination for the outstanding comedy guest actor award.

Missi, Uggie and Jean DujardinOne of the unexpected joys of this year's edition of Endless Awards Season has been the presence of the very funny, very talented Missi Pyle. She's kind of blink and you'll miss her as "Constance" the 'Lina Lamont' silent star archetype in The Artist. But she's been everywhere at the events. That's oddly appropriate given that she always seems to be blink and you'll miss her in movies but she makes the best of it. Often when I see her in that big ball of joy that is the cast and crew of The Artist (winning makes the joy part a lot easier) I think back to my favorite moment in her filmography to date.
She was the comedy Mvp of the oft-delayed and then underseen and weirdly trashed Spring Breakdown (2009) which is much funnier than it gets credit for. Her...

Larry Kennar is producer and manager of Lke Entertainment, and Sunday, Jan. 29 was the day of his roundtable discussion about growing independently-run projects in the entertainment industry. His newest project, Dtla, is out this spring, and as Kennar says, it's best described as "a cross between Queer As Folk and Swingers." He tells me it is the first gay drama to come out in seven years. His producing credits include 50 First Dates, Barbershop, Spring Breakdown, The L Word, and Queens of Drag: NYC, to name a few. His enormous passion for the topic of homosexuality today is heartfelt and approached with respectful storytelling and understanding toward those who face many adversities in today's times. Although coming out today is much more accepting than in the past, it is nonetheless still an up-and-down discussion, with much opposition. (I know first-hand, as my mother came out to me when I was 13. I...

Awards season is truly upon us. The red carpets are unfurled and waiting for the glitterati to trample them. Tomorrow night is the Golden Globes (we'll be here live-blogging it old' style if you'd like to join us!) but for now one last look back at the Critics Choice Awards held Thursday night. For this edition of Red Carpet Convos I've invited Joanna Robinson from Pajiba to join me. Joanna is a longtime reader of The Film Experience (she even won a contest once years ago!) and a delightful person, too.
Nathaniel: Hey Joanna. Welcome. Let's start with the pastel field and uh... Happy Easter!?!
Olsen, Pyle, Woodley, Miller, and Kruger Joanna: As faberge as Elizabeth Olsen looks, I think she looks better than her "fashion plate" sisters have looked in years. Nathaniel: Give her time. Let's celebrate the Quarter-Century mark of one Armie Hammer... (happy birthday!) also known as Armand Douglas Hammer. 'He's 6'5", 220, and there's two of him.' Well, actually just one. But his twinned Social Network role as Cameron and Tyler, "the Winklevii", sure doubled tripled quadrupled okay greatly multiplied the size of his acting career. Hammer has the Prince Charming role in Tarsem Singh's upcoming Untitled Snow White picture but we'll next see him in Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar as Clyde Tolson, the alleged longtime lover / official longtime employee of Leonardo DiCaprio's J Edgar Hoover. So there's two of Hammer this time too in a sense.
Just for fun given his newness on the scene, I thought we'd look at how Armie has been introduced in each of the feature films he has made thus far (excluding Billy Graham the Early Years which I couldn't find. Inbetween the...

We at NextMovie don't condone drinking to excess. No sir. Nuh-uh. Alcohol is bad, mmkay?
That said, while watching people get drunk in real life isn't always a barrel of laughs (ever been to a St. Patrick's Day parade?), watching people in movies get drunk can be downright hilarious.
They fall on their faces! They say and do crazy things! (Bless you, Will Ferrell, you are indeed going streaking.) They're far more entertaining -- and infinitely more clever -- than your buddy Joe after he's broken open a bottle of tequila.
Watch, enjoy and share our mashup of our favorite drinking and drunk scenes in movies... and you don't even need alcohol to do it.

She takes the video camera to film them and is beaten and left to die. Horatio (David Caruso) posits it's safe to say it was "overkill." Me Tom (Christian Clemenson) concludes that every blow was fatal and she was swung at from all angles, demonstrating rage from the killer. Jesse (Eddie Cibrian) thinks she could have interrupted an intruder and Natalia (Eva La Rue) believes he could have killed her. Isn't that what Jesse just said. Jesse notices a void on the ground, so something was there to stop the blood spatter. Jesse notices Cody is sad, as sits drawing pictures. (Which was the clue.) Like all responsible Movieline readers, I'm strapping my debit card to my garter and seeing Bridesmaids this weekend. A few times, perhaps? In the name of hilarious lady ensembles? Indeed. And not just because I write about the potential for female-driven comedies in my spare time, but because Bridesmaids seems like a watershed moment of sass and brass in this very slim genre, which brings us to today's Bad Movie We Love: the hokey, pointless, and righteous 2009 non-hit Spring Breakdown.

I would like to preface this by telling you I have not yet seen Going the Distance. I've heard opinions ranging from "it's complete dog shit" to "it's really good." So I feel comfortable in my expectation level of "cautiously hopeful."
This hopeful feeling is not limited to the film itself. If Going the Distance truly blows, then so be it, it's just another lame rom-com. But if it's good, then maybe it could mean less lame rom-coms.
I'm going to come out to all of you right now. I am a lover of the good romantic comedy, sometimes fairly and sometimes unfairly deigned as "chick flick." I love The Apartment, The Philadelphia Story, When Harry Met Sally, Bridget Jones' Diary, While You Were Sleeping and The Proposal and Fever Pitch and Muriel's Wedding and The Wedding Date and I own it and I don't care what you think...

Spring Breakdown is a buddy comedy starring Amy Poehler, Parker Posey and Rachel Dratch about three best friends who get a chance to re-live their college dream of being "cool". Since there aren't many roles where female leads get to be geeky, goofy and needlessly silly in a Judd Apatow kind of way this movie works. Or at least, fills a need. If you go in with the expectation of getting some laughs, you'll be pleased. But I genuinely enjoyed this film. Poehler and her gang have nice comedic timing and the story includes Jane Lynch (Glee) as a gun-toting Republican senator.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Baby Boom and Alfie (2004) director Charles Shyer has signed on to direct a chick flick. Shyer will be behind the lens for the tale of two best friends (Bff, for the acronym-challenged, means best friends forever in girlspeak) who have reunited as adults, only to find one is a country mouse and one is a well-heeled city gal. The script was originally written by Vanessa Parise and Robin Dunne and is now being rewritten by Ellen Greenberg and Hallie Shyer, who is currently co-writing the screenplay for Eloise in Paris along with Charles Shyer, who will also direct. It's hard not to wonder why Greenberg and Shyer are rewriting an original script -- too many cooks in the kitchen, etc. -- but let's give them the benefit of the doubt.
As we all know, reuniting with old friends usually brings a host of problems with it -- especially old rivalries.

In an episode of "The Hills" season 5, Kristin Cavallari was seen sharing a girl-on-girl kiss with Stacie Hall. Recently, the 22-year-old claimed if she might choose, she would never do the lesbian lips-locking scene.
She told MTV News, "I think that sort of my I-wish-i-didn't moment was when I made out with Stacie in Vegas." Revealing why she didn't hope to film the scene, Kristin further explained, "That was one episode I had to call my dad and say, 'Dad, sorry - this is going to be your least favorite episode.' "
The "Spring Breakdown" actress then shared about her father's reaction after watching the making-out scene. "He said, 'Great.' He was like, 'Oh, great,' and then when he called me - sometimes he'll call me after every episode just to talk about it - he didn't say one word about the episode," Kristin recalled. 1908 Burgess Meredith two time Oscar nominee. But no, not for the Penguin in Batman: The Movie. Those honors came back to back in his late 60s for Rocky and The Day of the Locust.
1964 Harry Lennix best known for his TV work in shows like Dollhouse and Commander in Chief but he's cut an imposing figure in the movies too (Titus, the Matrix trilogy). But yes Dollhouse was cancelled last week. sigh.
1967 Lisa Bonet mostly retired actress, Huxtable, one of Marisa Tomei's besties
1970 Martha Plimpton. My friends have this thing where they cast the book they've just read for their book club each month. It's their tradition that they have to give 80s teen film star turned ubiquitous Broadway thespian a role in every film.

Chicago – Can anyone explain to me why there are lavish, bonus-laden, beautifully transferred versions of so-so musicals like “Gigi” and “South Pacific” on Blu-Ray but the beloved “My Fair Lady” languishes in standard definition? It’s completely illogical, a decision made even more frustrating by a grainy, flat picture and mediocre audio track. Eliza deserves an upgrade.
DVD Rating: 2.5/5.0
To be “fair” (slight pun intended), this multiple Oscar winner hasn’t exactly stood the test of time like I remembered. Many of the musical numbers still resonate like they did when I was a child (“On the Street Where You Live” is still one of my favorite movie musical songs of the era) but the film is undeniably bloated, running almost three hours long and dragging as often as it zips.
My Fair Lady was released on DVD on October 6th, 2009.

But that’s not the point.

One of the movies we’re watching closely in these parts is “Paul,” the next off-the-wall comedy from Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Two of the guys behind “Shaun of the Dead” and “Hot Fuzz.” By now, you probably know that "Paul" has a dream cast which includes Pegg, Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Sigourney Weaver, Jason Bateman and Bill Hader. However, little has been divulged about the role played by comedy veteran Jane Lynch – a scene stealer in flicks like “Role Models,” “The 40 Year Old Virgin” and most any Christopher Guest mockumentary you can think of. Until now, that is.
“In ‘Paul,’ I am in one scene, but it’s a pretty cool one,” Lynch explained when we caught up with her recently. “I run this little restaurant called the ‘Ailey-Inn.’”

The Jay Leno Show is set to debut on NBC on Monday, September 14 and whether you are excited or disgusted with this 'future of television' idea that is his show, chances are you're probably going to tune in, at least for those first few episodes. The buzz generated around this odd concept that will combine topical humor, celebrity guests, street correspondents, and God only knows what other comedic elements has been at an all-time high lately, and many reports are confirming the facts that even if Leno comes in dead last every night of the week in ratings, his show could still be profitable and lead NBC forward into the future. Of course, that doesn't mean that his ratings don't matter, but exactly what ratings NBC hopes for or expects is a question they haven't seemed willing ot answer yet. So is the future of NBC on that any of...

We just discovered that the comedian known as Luenell may be the next comedian to be tapped for her own reality show and star in another new film. You may remember her from touring on the Katt Williams comedy tour several years ago and in last year’s comedy filmBorat.
Well, we discovered that Luenell is also going to be in the new film titled All About Steve starring Sandra Bullock which opens in theatres everywhere on September 4th. If you remember, Luenell was also seen in Californication, VH1's I Love The New Millennium, Reality Bites Back, performing on Martin Lawrence 1st Amendment Standup, Chocolate News, Spring Breakdown and Head Case, just to name a select few.
No word yet on which network the reality show will be broadcast on but as soon as we find out we will let you know.

Every year during graduation week, the college I attended also hosted various reunion years. One time the 30-somethings of the 10-year reunion threw quite a memorable bash. In this same spirit Spring Breakdown follows Ashley (Amber Tamblyn) as she embarks on an outrageous spring break, only to be followed by her Senator mother’s appointed chaperones, Becky St. Germaine (Parker Posey), Gayle O'Brien (Amy Poehler) and Judi Joskow (Rachel Dratch).
These three extremely funny ladies ruled the '90s and are still stealing girly hearts today. All three women, though straight, often play interestingly queer characters, whether it is through gender presentation, quirkiness or straight up sass, making them popular lesbian icons in their own right.
But to add to the dyke draw, one of Ashley’s adventures along the way includes a steamy girl kiss with blonde Aussie hottie Mason Masters (Sophie Monk).

Three comedians are off to the beach for spring break fun, but their vacation turns out to be direct-to-video. Our leads have been funnier in other films and spring does appear to breakdown, but it.s more to do with the film than the idyllic setting. Three thirty-something BFFs, Gayle (Amy Poehler, who brings along husband Will Arnett for a cameo), Becky (Parker Posey), and Judi (Rachel Dratch, are feeling like they want shed their geeky personas and wrecked personal lives. Becky works for the gun-toting senator Kay Bee Hartman (Jane Lynch) and when her daughter Ashley (Amber Tamblyn) is going to South Padre Island, Texas for some spring break hijinks. Becky has the opportunity to unofficially escort...

Say it with me: Amy Poehler, action star. It doesn't exactly have much of a ring to it, does it? Alas, she's going to try it anyway. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Poehler has signed on to Universal's upcoming adaptation of Jarrett Krosoczka's "Lunch Lady" graphic novel series. The story follows a mild-mannered cafeteria worker who secretly dishes out helpings of justice as she and her assistant investigate various wrongdoings. All this while three students try to figure out what her double life is all about. The series of books will hit shelves in July and include the awesomely titled "Lunch Lady and the League of Librarians" and "Lunch Lady and the Cyborg Substitute." Yes, you read that right. At the beginning of this article you were thinking "sounds dumb," but now I know that you're in with the "Cyborg Subsitute." The involvement of Poehler leads us to believe that there will be a humorous tone to...

On the heels of her successful theatrical turn in Minsky's, gay-favorite funny lady Rachel Dratch spoke with The Advocate this month about her role in this summer's My Life in Ruins, her made-for-gay film Spring Breakdown, and why she always seems to get cast as a lesbian.
Spring Breakdown, a film Dratch co-created with Amy Poehler, tells the story of three women (Dratch, Poehler and Parker Posey) who decide to leave their stale 30-year-old lives behind and live it up one good time on spring break. The project stalled out several times in the distribution phase, and after three years, finally made it to DVD.
The Advocate asked Dratch about Amy Poehler's comment that Spring Breakdown was "made for gays." Dratch responded:
Well, [out director/screen-writer] Ryan [Shiraki] always has the gay audience in mind. We set out to make the kind of broad comedy you always see featuring guys, but with women in the leads.

Chicago – When Tina Fey made the jump from “Saturday Night Live” to “30 Rock,” she was planning on taking her talented co-star and friend Rachel Dratch to the award-winning show. Before the season began, Dratch was replaced by Jane Krakowski and the rest is history. But there was a promising comedy with a great cast on Dratch’s resume that all of us thought would bring her back to the spotlight called “Spring Breakdown”. Now that comedy is being quietly released straight-to-dvd/Blu-Ray. There’s no justice in the comedy world.
Blu-Ray Rating: 3.0/5.0 It’s not that “Spring Breakdown” is a comedy masterpiece that necessarily deserved a wide audience, but while watching it I was struck by the disparity between the sexes. Male-driven junk about horny boys looking for sex like “Fired Up,” “Sex Drive,” or “Miss March” automatically gets a theatrical release, but if a female-driven film isn...

There's an interesting new interview in The Advocate with funnywoman Rachel Dratch about the just-out-on-dvd Spring Breakdown (which the film's out director Ryan Shiraki calls a "gay acid trip"). The talk turns to her new film, the Nia Vardolos vehicle My Life in Ruins, and one scene in particular involving an "Entry in rear" t-shirt and "lecherous gay men" that is sure to ruffle some feathers:
Totally cringe-worthy! I was horrified when I saw that. But here’s the inside scoop: I know that Nia fought tooth and nail to get rid of that part. She’s upset about that. I saw it at the Tribeca Film Festival, and that’s the scene I was talking about the next day. I was like, "Oh, my God, I'm going to have to warn all my gay friends." After six seasons as a "Saturday Night Live" player, offbeat funny lady Rachel Dratch leapt away from a show she calls a safety net to pursue other TV ("30 Rock") and film roles ("I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry," "Spring Breakdown"). Her latest opportunity to make us giggle is the new rom-com "My Life in Ruins," which stars Nia Vardalos as a frazzled Greek tour guide (get the title now?) trying to get her "kefi" (groove, mojo, etc.) back. Dratch plays a shrill, uncultured American tourist with whom Vardalos is stuck, with the equally eccentric-humored Harland Williams as Dratch's oblivious beau. Definitely not a Debbie Downer in real life, Dratch was in great spirits as we sat down to discuss the film's hard-partying Spanish crew, her theory on funny women, and who was the best lay on "SNL."

DVD Links: DVD News | Release Dates | New Dvds | Reviews | RSS Feed Revolutionary Road I'm not exactly excited about any of the selections this week and as anxious as I was to see this movie last year, it ultimately disappointed me. The best way to describe this film would be to say it is just there. I got nothing from it. The book, however, I certainly recommend you read, although, like the film, it too is a bit of a downer, but at least it is brilliantly written. Defiance It is no wonder Paramount Home Video is offering a special deal if you buy Defiance and Revolutionary Road since both films are right there in the luke warm middle of the road. I will give Defiance credit for interesting me just slightly more than Rr, but by the time I was supposed to review it last year I didn't even make the effort.
