"Il circo della morte" was released in England, Australia and New Zealand as "The Circus of Death". In the US, it was released in edited form as "Masque of Life". Its US distributor, Signet Films, cut the film down from ten reels to seven, and added footage of Rita Jolivet and Hamilton Revelle as the characters Pierrette and Pierrot, who were featured in introductory scenes in the film.
It has been repeated in secondary literature that costume war drama "L'onore di morire" was the original title for "Il circo della morte", a spectacular circus melodrama directed by Dane Alfred Lind. However, the two films are unrelated.
