This episode feels like something that a person who has never seen the show can still enjoy as a standalone episode. The tension can be felt in the same way as an alien horror film or even a mystery might feel. Something somehow has been biting the characters on the bebop, and Spike tries to investigate what it might be. While there is a certain amount of creepiness and suspense, it is clear (especially with the reveal of what the creature really is) that this is a parody of those films and the result is a lot of laughs. It makes for a very enjoyable and entertaining episode that stands out as original in a show with a polethera of incredible episodes.

This episode was a great homage to the alien movies, while also being effortlessly hilarious at the same time. The next time on segment is very funny as well.
