Warning: Spoilers
. . . given its vapid self-absorption in backstage drivel. THE RETURN OF BOND: THE START OF PRODUCTION PRESS EVENT does not even include any of the press event itself (not that that rivaled Moses coming down from the Mount). Instead, some uncredited gadfly (think Guillermo on JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE!) apparently wandered around backstage DURING the press event, sticking a camera and microphone in the face of anyone they could find. Unit publicist Geoff Freeman and publicity assistant Zoe McCrudden get to contribute their four cents' worth, along with cast members Pierce Brosnan (Bond), Sean Bean (Alec), Robbie Coltrane (a.k.a., Hagrid in HARRY POTTER but "Valentin" here), Famke Janssen (Xenia), Izabella Scorupco (Natalya), Samantha Bond (Miss Moneypenny), Gottfried John (Ourumov), Alan Cumming (Boris), director Martin Campbell, and Desmond Llewelyn (Q), in that approximate order. Brosnan makes the only pithy remark, referring to his first casting as Bond in 1986 being canceled out by a conflict with his REMINGTON STEELE TV show (leading to Timothy Dalton's ill-fated turn as Agent 007). Says Brosnan, "It's pretty emotional in many ways--it (Bond) was in my life in '86, and it went out of my life in '86. When something happens in your life for a second time, it carries a certain significance." Cumming, however, steals the visual spotlight, dressed in white-striped red PJ's.
