Poor Ludovic has been conned into buying a tatty old van and are three intrepid heroes find him very drunk in the local pub, as he is too ashamed to go home. It's up to the worlds worst driver Norman Clegg to test drive this rust trap, with hilarious results.

Van on the run

The name Ludovic might had been inspired by broadcaster Ludovic Kennedy who presented a popular review programme 'Did you see...?'

Ludovic here is played by great character actor Bryan Pringle famous for being the foil for Norman Wisdom in The Early Bird. Pringle plays it broad as the depressed drunk who the trio have not seen for a long time. He can hardly stand upright and he has brought a dilapidated van which is worse for wear than he is.

Like other episodes in the series, it open with the trio in the countryside reminiscing about their younger days and poking fun at each other. It ends with some kind of escapade.

Clegg has to drive Ludovic home in his van but somehow falls off the van with the drivers seat and has to chase after it with the help of Wally Batty in his motor bike.
