Easy as falling off a plane
Prismark109 March 2019
The autopilot mode on Roy Clarke's Word Processor must have broken down for this episode.

Clegg gets a letter from America about the late Bill Henry Duffy. His widow tells Clegg that he died falling from an aeroplane. He was bringing the in flight meals before take off and went out of the wrong door. It all happened six months earlier. His widow has remarried to a Mr Beckenschneider, a security guard and a moderate drinker unlike Bill Henry.

Clegg is in a wistful mood as Bill Henry was an old school friend. Clegg decides to do the three pub challenge as a tribute. However the trio have little mishaps along the way, Clegg thinks it is all due to the spirit of John Henry.

There are some lovely character moments from all of the cast, even Seymour cracks a joke. Compo it seems has always carried a bottle opener somewhere down his trousers.

Sadly this was Wally Batty's last regular episode. Actor Joe Gladwin had died several days before this episode was broadcast. At least he was given a cracking line as Nora and him discuss Bill Henry's widow marrying some called Beckenschneider.

Nora: "I could never marry a German" Wally: "You never gave it a try."
