Narrator : Probably the most crucial moments in law enforcement are those that bridge the gap between crime and pursuit. Because those moments may spell the difference between capture and escape, the Highway Patrol works constantly to close that all-important gap. And inventive criminal minds work constantly to widen it. In their efforts to widen the gap, Ben Yates and Oren Wilkerson discovered that although a taxicab attracts attention, it defies detailed description. By substituting a taxicab for their own car, they developed a method for robbery so effective that time after time they left crimes that spanned many states.
