Obscene phone calls galore.
Sleepin_Dragon9 October 2017
Putting down her Jackie Collins, Eleanor ventures up to Sarah's room to answer her phone, where she gets an obscene phone call. Sarah takes exception to Eleanor's constant invasion of her privacy, and takes steps, but as always Eleanor is a step ahead.

Those hideous opening credits make me wonder whether this was possibly the pilot episode? Some of the sets look a little different too.

It's innocently amusing, very safe, very much of the brand of humour ITV were transmitting during the late eighties, but there is something extra in this series. Sarah is a good character, Eleanor is excellent, she gets the laughs again here, her dirty phone call scene was really funny, her reactions great.

Nicely amusing 7/10

Phone Calls

It's the old 80s standby episode. The ansaphone.

Sarah is sick and tired of her mother Eleanor taking phone calls when Sarah is absent.

So she has installed an ansaphone. Putting a suitable message on is tricky at first.

Eleanor thinks that ansaphones are just so impersonal.

The household is also being plagued by a dirty phone caller who wants to slowly undress Sarah by the golf club.

Another episode that is too genteel for my liking. Although Russell deviously sees off the man who wants to date Sarah. I would have thought the dirty phone calls would have continued if you think about it.
