original, inspirational, great production values
This program is replete with inventive orchestration, performance, and unusual harp technique but most of all it can inspire people to re-examine there own lives. It's a good a portrayal of a live event as I have ever seen. Looks and sounds great, the soundtrack was nominated for a Grammy in 2007.
The program ranges from blues to flamenco to Prokofiev tinged compositions
with a fair modicum of humor. In one piece the conductor plays a cello concerto and becomes a 'sultan' to Deborah Henson-Conant's Scheherazade. In another the stage is conceived to be a scientists lab with a hilarious set up by Henson-Conant as she 'presents' her paper called Stress Analysis of a Strapless Evening Gown.
