How many people actually think of the work and effort it takes to bring us the gold that we use and like flash as bling on a regular basis? I’m guessing the average person won’t think a single thing about and likely doesn’t even know that a show like Gold Rush exists. But while a lot of this show is likely real and some of it might be staged, as reality shows are known to do from time to time, the work that goes into seems to be all too realistic as we get to watch the crews live out

Good lord, Rick Ness needs a break. On tonight’s Gold Rush, this crew boss is set back with another equipment calamity, and it’s poorly timed. Ness is behind in the tally of gold retrieval. Beets and Schnabel are fighting it out for the win. His crew of novice miners is, at times, in over their head too. A lot of this season has been Rick managing his guys’ behaviors. Rick is on the radio and talking to his crew: “Is this just froze up high?” His man answers, “Yes… big chunks [are] in here. It’s frozen up high.” “Roger that” […]

On tonight’s Gold Rush, Rick Ness’ crew has a big problem as frustrations about how to drive a large piece of equipment pushes one crew member to a violent cab scene until Rick Ness talks him down from the emotional ledge. Gold Rush has managed to remain popular even though it is closing in on its first decade of existence. There have been huge shake-ups, but for the most part, the core elements have managed to remain the same. Presumably, this includes how Gold Rush is made, which is neither wholly real nor wholly fake. How Much of Gold Rush Is Real and Fake? It isn’t exactly a huge secret that unscripted shows fail to live up to that label 100 percent of the time. Spoiler Alert: This article contains details about the series finale of Timeless.
NBC’s Timeless has had quite a journey. The time-traveling series has always been on the bubble and after one season, it was canceled. The news was met with an outcry from the show’s diehard fans — who are affectionately referred to as “Clockblockers”. To their joy, it was renewed for a second season but just when the Clockblockers were finished celebrating it was canceled again. But the fans refused to say goodbye to Lucy, Wyatt, and Rufus. Their loyalty paid off as NBC decided to do a two-hour series finale to put a cap on the sci-fi series that would never give up. Deadline talked to Timeless co-creator and executive producer Shawn Ryan about the grand finale, but before we get into it with him, let’s see how it all ended.

Hoffman and Jose Behar’s Züm Media has signed a development deal with Beers and Conroy’s new multi-platform production company BoBCat Studios to create the show.
Tentatively titled Greenhorn Gold, the series will feature a cast of men and women from all walks of life as novice miners attempting to dig for gold in a blue collar, competition-style reality show. If there’s one takeaway from tonight’s episode of Gold Rush: Parker’s trail, it’s don’t Ever go swimming in Guyana’s Rewa River. If you want to come out alive, that is. Because this week’s unsettling instalment of the hit Gold Rush spin-off shows that although this murky waterway is many things, hospitable to human life it is not. Wary and on the lookout while they navigate the bends of the Rewa, Monsters and Critics’ exclusive clip shows Parker Schnabel and his team traveling down the river as caiman pop up all over the place. In the water and laying on the banks, […]

Parker Schnabel is injured by an out-of-control high-pressure hose on tonight’s episode of Gold Rush: Parker’s Trail — and our exclusive footage shows the dramatic moment as it unfolds. The low-tech and stripped-down mining techniques the team encounter in Guyana are a 180-degree shift from what Parker is used to in the Yukon, and tonight things nearly end in disaster. In the clip, Parker is in charge of a highly pressurized jet hose that could easily kill if it gets away from the person holding it. The job of controlling it is the most dangerous on the mine, as it’s shooting […]

Now that Gold Rush has wrapped and viewers look forward to Season 9, fans who like Todd Hoffman are wondering what is left after the Godly miner and his crew took leave of the popular Discovery series. Hoffman has been hinting all along on his Facebook and Twitter accounts that he wants to produce and create a whole new mining show in, he says, ” the way it should be done”. Sometimes you need a reset. I want to do A mining show the way in which it should be done. https://t.co/04ZkpUYzHs — Zum media Todd (@goldrushtodd) March 9, 2018 […]

The uncharted, lawless era of the 19th century Gold Rush, and the accompanying American dream notion that went with it—journeying thousands of miles for a better life with the hopes of striking it rich— are transposed to the world of sci-fi in Zeek Earl and Chris Caldwell‘s “Prospect,” a sci-fi/Western hybrid that debuted this week at SXSW.
A well-natured amalgam of both, say, “Star Wars,” and Duncan Jones‘ “Moon,” especially in its impactful first half, “Prospect” tells the story of a teenager (Sophie Thatcher) and her father (Jay Duplass) who travel to a remote alien moon’s toxic forest on the hunt for a rare substance, aiming to make a mint.

The Gold Rush finale tonight pits Tony Beets against Parker Schnabel. It appeared that Beets, Gold Rush’s savviest landlord and gold miner, had Schnabel right where he wanted him. Which was under his thumb and paying the rent on his lease, kicking up the profits of the profanity-loving Dutchman. Beets is a clever businessman. Todd Hoffman told […]

A lot of gravel and what appears to be quality rock real estate is traveling through Gold Rush: White Water’s sluice box tonight — but there’s a problem. Rather than real gold it’s the mineral Pyrite, aka fool’s gold, that is turning up and proving a total let-down for the guys. Dustin Hurt, to be frank, worked his butt off for a whole lot of nothing. Carlos and Paul are psyched at the amount of quality paydirt Dustin has sucked up with the underwater dredge, but it’s short-lived. In Monsters and Critics’ exclusive clip it’s “diver up” time as Paul...read more...

NBC’s Winter Olympics juggernaut from PyeongChang, South Korea, continued to dominate the primetime ratings for the week ending Feb. 18, but audiences not feeling the Olympic fever had plenty of other options — particularly of the unscripted variety.
The night of Tuesday, Feb. 13 was the most-watched night of the Olympics last week, featuring Shaun White and Mikaela Shiffrin going for gold. All seven nights of the Olympics were the top-rated programs of the week, among both adults 18-49 and viewers. Viewership is down from the 2014 Sochi Games, although still solid. Here’s a side-by-side comparison so far from NBC:
Winter Olympics Primetime Total Audience Delivery

Tonight on Gold Rush: White Water, the perils of mining underwater have never been so graphically dissected, with Dustin in harm’s way as father Dakota Fred tries to manage and help above near the shore. The boulders are in the way of the retaining wall being built to shore up the underwater dredge as Dustin, in full Scuba gear, is filmed while underwater as he explains the challenges in graphic detail. His father is listening carefully as they coordinate the rock removal from above using a special winch, but what looks easy is far from it. Suddenly a boulder avalanche appears out of nowhere...read more...

The only good vigilante is a fictional vigilante and The Punisher is one of the best examples.
America loves revenge stories and Netflix serves up a cold dish of it with Marvel's The Punisher. The Punisher, like Batman, Spider-Man, the Green Hornet and so many other comic book heroes, is based on a mythical creature: The do-gooding, well-intentioned lone vigilante: Brave men, women and occasionally children and animals, who take the law into their own hands when society fails them.
The Punisher is a damaged version of that trope. Well-trained and filled with vengeance, he is a one-man posse who you can easily picture riding shotgun in Travis Bickle’s yellow cab in Taxi Driver. Although, he may prefer to prowl the subways with Bernie Goetz.
The Punisher was created by writer Gerry Conway and artist John Romita, Sr. for Marvel Comics. He first showed up...
