The title of the original Filipino film (Sigaw) translates to The Shout or The Scream. The title on the DVD release was changed to The Echo to avoid confusion with Wes Craven's horror film entitled Scream (1996). This remake followed suit.

It's theorized that the film wasn't picked up due to the diminishing interest in Asian horror remakes from the public, which were dying out when this film was released.
