While performing a fight scene, Jerry Crocker accidentally hit Richard Jobling in the face. The shot was so realistic that it was included in the film.
The part of Mad Alan was originally going to be played by Matthew Scattergood, but he later proved to be unavailable to film the part. The character was originally called Mad Aled, as Scattergood was to play him with a Welsh accent. Director 'Oliver Crocker' stepped in at the last minute to play the role, which he renamed Mad Alan and played with a Cornish accent.
'Oliver Crocker' cast his Dad, Jerry Crocker as Frank Craddock, and his Uncle Jonny Crocker as Jack Tanner.
Bernard Wrigley provides the opening narration of the film, as well as starring as Larry Webb, and he also performs the acoustic song 'Stryder' which is heard on Tanner's car radio. The DJ is called Eric Meredith, which is made up of the names of two characters Wrigley has played before, Dodgy Eric in Phoenix Nights (2001) and Rex Meredith in Crown Court (1972). Wrigley's popular nickname 'The Bolton Bullfrog' is used to introduced the song's performer. 'Stryder' is a song that featured on Wrigley's 1988 album 'The Instrumental Album'.
