A pet steer, Sancho, is awkward to keep when it is full grown at the ranch, and he almost ruins a cattle drive. Sancho heads off toward home by himself, a journey of 1,200 miles, finding many obstacles along the way.
Ed Kerr, a rancher in Texas, finds a baby longhorn steer at the side of its dead mother. he takes the animal home with him and his wife, Maria, agrees to help him care for it. They name the steer Sancho, which means "pet". Problems abound when their pet grows to maturity.—Keeping Walt in Disney
