- Rick Hunter: "Dear Mr. and Mrs. Dixon, as your son's commanding officer, it's my sad duty to inform you that..." Oh, I just can't do it! They were both so proud of him. There's nothing I can say to make this any easier. It seems like such a waste!
- Ben Dixon: Lieutenant, old buddy.
- Rick Hunter: Ben, is that you?
- Ben Dixon: Hi! I know you're feeling bad, but it couldn't be helped. It was just my time to go.
- Max Sterling: I guess it's tough being in command. I mean, after a while, I guess you start feeling responsible for everybody who's serving under you, right?
- Rick Hunter: I can't begin to tell you how helpless I feel each time we go into battle. It's like watching somebody slip out of your grasp and fall off a cliff. You always wonder if there wasn't something more you could have done to save them.
