The earliest known film directed by a Chinese-American and one of the earliest films directed by a woman
Writer/director/producer Marian E. Wong could not find a distributor who would take the film, so it was never released in the US. In fact, it was thought to be lost until 2004, when producer Arthur Dong found a print of it while doing research for his documentary Hollywood Chinese (2007).
Was entered into the National Film Registry in 2006 as a historically important film.
Originally seven or eight reels long, the film was reconstructed from two original nitrate reels and a 16mm print of another reel that was in the possession of Violet Wong's family. It was reconstructed and preserved by the Academy Film Archive in 2005, but the majority of the film, including all of the original title cards, remains lost as of 2018.
