Monday Night Football (#2.14)

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is one of the things I like about this show. Ridiculous, unrealistic and yet so damn original and hilarious.

It already starts fun with them having to go to a funeral of the bar worker who they don't even think they know. I personally first thought it was Carl that died.

And them trying to not find out who won was too funny. My favorite part was Marshall with the the little boy. Ah he is great in the feud with a little kid. One still likes Marshall more since he is such a sweet guy, I was applauding him for his idea to spill water on the kid.

Robin's day was the one I was the most interested in as her not finding out who won while working on the news seemed pretty much impossible. They dealt with it pretty well.

And at the end there is a sweet lesson about super bowl on how fun with friends is so much greater than knowing who won.

Blatant ripoff of Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads...
rupertastubbs11 February 2019
This is a direct steal from the classic episode of WHTTLL "No Hiding Place" where Terry and Bob have to avoid seeing the results of a football (soccer) match. Made in 1973, in the UK, so I guess they thought they could get away with it...

Underrated episode
pranjaldixit-7896614 September 2021
Whole episode was great and very well directed. This is one of the classic HIMYM type an episode. Individual plts of the all the characters were good (especially the Ted where he invents a new device so to avoid results of superbowl). This is one of the great episode of himym but it is very less talked.

I like the bit where he fell down the stairs but didn't spill the dipping sauce

Another Substandard Episode
slightlymad223 December 2014
A second sub standard episode in a row for "How I Met Your Mother" in its second season. Though I did like a continuation of Barney's gambling problem.

Plot In A Paragraph: Ted misses a flight to an important job interview and he sets about looking who to blame. First on his list of culprits is Barney, but then he realises if it was not for Marshall, Barney would not have been to blame, and before you know it he has worked his way through the entire group and to the real culprit.

A generous 6/10 because the Barney storyline is funny as Neil Patrick Harris is always great fun to watch and is always reliable, but some of the other parts just fell a bit flat.

What it does give away is that Ted may not marry Robin, as it ends with Ted and what looks like a blonde bride at the alter, with the voice over "My destiny was to stay in New York, otherwise I never would have met your mother"

Give Me A Break

Warning: Spoilers
NOBODY HAS A FUNERAL ON SUPER BOWL Sunday! Even though it would be rude, my response would be "Who the hell has a funeral on Super Bowl Sunday?" The only acceptable way of having it on Super Bowl Sunday is if it was one of your closest relatives and the service was in the morning or early afternoon. Any funeral I've ever been to on a weekend has always been in the daytime. Nighttime funerals are pretty much only held on weekdays. Unless you don't give a crap about football, absolutely no one has the bad taste to hold it on a Sunday night, let alone that night. This episode was pretty lame so I'm not going to write a review on the plot.
