This episode borrows its title from Kazuo Ishiguro's Booker prize-winning novel and the Oscar nominated The Remains of the Day (1993) starring Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson.
Mariel Hemingway's sister Margaux Hemingway committed suicide and died on the 1st July 1996 age 42, taking an overdose of a sedative, phenobarbital (she was the fifth person in the Hemingway family to commit suicide).
