Comedic Dischord in The Full Picture
phretboardin14 June 2010
The Full Picture was really a fun flick. The cast was terrific and director Jon Bowden's script really sharp. The ongoing dysfunctional relationships are ones we can all relate to and the interactions between brothers Hal and Mark Foster were completely believable. Kudos to Mssrs. Hutchinson and Jennings.

Bettina Devin is absolutely wonderful as Gretchen Foster - imperious, haughty, and comedic. Lizzie Ross does a masterful job in conveying the emotional complexities of the anxiety attack ridden Erika. The film at times leaves you feeling very uncomfortable, that is until the family tensions begin to get embarrassingly out of control. The scene in the Japanese restaurant is priceless.

The film score was exceptional and helped create additional tension in the flick. Really well done!!

The Full Picture

The Full Picture is a hoot! Jon Bowden's direction and script kept things moving right along and each of his characters were very well-defined and interesting. The entire cast is wonderful but Bettina Devin is the hootiest!! She's a wonderful actress who was given a wonderful role and off she went! While the story line carried you right along into humor, sadness, anger and grief the film was shot and edited in a very unique, enjoyable way. There were some scenes that made you think one thing, and they turned out to be something else which made the film very entertaining. Before you knew it, the film was over and you sat there wishing for a sequel to find out more about this family. Good story. Good film. A good night at the theater!

Amateurish

Warning: Spoilers
I'm an indie film lover and admire small budget films with aspiring young actors and directors. But the characters and material should have some appeal. The main character is so insecure and the rest of the family repulsive. The only character that I remotely cared about was Erica. This story has a dark subject matter which requires some talent to pull off and deliver comedic relief. There was no comic relief though as moments intended to provide laughs came off as awkward and only added bitterness to this. The 80 minute runtime seemed too long, there was no payoff and there was this feeling throughout that this whole project was full of amateurs.
