- Jim encounters Humphrey, a dwarf who has escaped from the evil Dr. Arcane.
- The first episode of Swamp Thing picks up where the movie left off. Swamp Thing (Dick Durock) lives in an Louisiana Swamp. The episode opens with Swamp Thing rescuing Jim Kipp (a boy of 10) from another mutant, "Frog Boy." In escorting Jim (Jesse Zeigler) home, the pair come upon a dwarf who has suffered a beat down at the hands of some thugs. Swamp Thing heals the dwarf, who then flees from him in terror. In the nearby house, Tressa (Jim's mom) and her mother (Jim's grandmother) are discussing whether Jim should remain with grandmother for the summer, or return to Philadelphia. Tressa (Carrell Myers) is concerned about Jim's penchant for lying. In the meantime, Dr. Arcane (Mark Lindsay Chapman) takes a local floozy to his cave, where he keeps his experimental mutant failures. She is significantly scared. He had also brought the dwarf, after capturing him and throwing him into his Porche. It is clear that Arcane has been doing some bad experiments and mutating people against their will. Back at the house, Tressa and Grandmother recall a time that Tressa lost a heart-shaped emerald locket and lied about it. Tressa, who has decided to take Jim back to Philly with her, takes a walk in the swamp. She finds her long-lost locket, and decides it's a sign to leave Jim there for the summer. What she doesn't know is that Swamp Thing arranged for her to find the locket. She takes Jim's bags off the boat back to town and tells him he can stay for the summer. Jubilantly he runs in to the swamp to broadcast the news. Tressa goes back to Philly.
