Mostly decent

THE ZOO ROBBERY is another Children's Film Foundation slice of adventure with a more fantastic approach than some. The story surrounds a Yeti at London Zoo called Yen-Yen (!), which is kidnapped by a gang of thieves. A gang of youthful crime investigators give chance and attempt to rescue it. Truth be told, the yeti costume is one of the worst I've ever seen - why did they give it such a ridiculous SHAPE? - yet the rest of this production is nicely handled, particularly the camaraderie between the kids and the hijinks on Regent's Canal.

Only worth it for the locations.

I am inserting reviews for films I've seen that lack one, they all deserve a review, even this... Made for the CFF (Children's Film Foundation) this is a very simple tale, set mostly along the Regents canal in London it's the tale of a group of children with use of their own canal barge who hope to rescue the world's only Yeti that has been stolen from the zoo, the keeper being the father of one of the kids, the Yeti is rather ridiculous, being orange and having a marsupial pouch, the acting is no better from the adults than the kids, it may amuse young kids, otherwise the main point of interest, is that there is extensive footage of the Regents canal before all the recent redevelopment, overall poor. This must be fairly obscure, at date of review Apr 2014 it is still to register 5 votes.

Warning: Spoilers
The basic problem with this Children's Film Foundation film is that the Yeti is an actor in a furry suit, which to say the least is very unimaginative.

The film is the basic Foundation film plot of a group of children thwarting a group of robbers.

One of the other problems is that the film is terribly unfunny, repeating lackluster situations where the only solution seems to be throw the villain in the water.

As has been mentioned in other reviews the sole point of interest is the views of the Regents Canal before the areas adjacent to the Canal were substantially redeveloped,so that they would be unrecognisable from those shown on the film.
