Amazon’s Fallout series has largely lived up to what once felt like an impossible level of hype. It’s a fantastic adaptation of the franchise that has exposed legions of newcomers to the wonderful horrors of the Fallout universe. Not everyone loves it, but divisiveness has long been part of the Fallout franchise’s legacy.
You’ll have a hard time finding a video game franchise as relatively small as Fallout (at least in terms of the total number of notable entries) that fans seem to disagree about more. For some, Fallout achieved perfection in 1997 (it’s a scientific fact). For others, Fallout didn’t come into its own until well into the Bethesda era of the game. Rankings of the franchise tend to vary wildly.
Before we dive into our rankings, please note I’m not including the Fallout board games or Fallout Pinball in this list. Many...

Fool Me Once kicks 2024 off with a bang as it hits the charts around the globe, but as you may have figured out by now, the show won’t be returning for a second season.
In case you missed it, Fool Me Once is a new British drama series that features the talents of Michelle Keegan, Adeel Akhtar, and Richard Armitage. It’s about an ex-soldier who finds out that her husband, who is supposed to be dead, is very much alive as she spots him on a nanny cam.
As with all prior Harlan Coben shows on Netflix and a growing number of Netflix scripted dramas – Fool Me Once was designed and will remain a limited series. That means by the time the credits roll on episode eight, you’re all done. That shouldn’t come as a huge surprise given that the series...

Following its delayed release, the promotional campaign for the Jeff Nichols’ film The Bikeriders now begins anew.
One of the films very much on our summer 2024 radar is Jeff Nichols’ The Bikeriders.
It’s a promising film too for lots of reasons: it’s a new film from the director of the excellent Mud and the equally excellent Take Shelter; there’s a very exciting and talented ensemble cast, and who doesn’t enjoy watching famous guys atop motorbikes brood moodily in vintage leather jackets?
The film’s impressive ensemble is made up of Tom Hardy, Austin Butler, Jodie Comer and Michael Shannon. Of course, the movie was originally set to release on December 1st in the US until Disney pulled the plug on its distribution deal, seemingly because it wasn’t happy with the performance of another non-franchise drama in the form of Gareth Edwards’ The Creator.

The cancelations continue ahead of the holiday weekend.
Amazon has axed a trio of scripted series from its Prime Video service: The Horror of Dolores Roach, Harlan Coben’s Shelter, and With Love are all ending.
The Horror of Dolores Roach and Harlan Coben’s Shelter ran for one season, while With Love is ending after two seasons.
They are the latest cancelations at the streamer over the last few months following shows such as The Peripheral and A League of Their Own, which had both been renewed before those decisions were reversed.

“The Head,” The Mediapro Studio’s biggest hit, is advancing towards a third season, Ran Tellem, Tms head of international content development, confirmed Tuesday at Iberseries & Industria Platino.
“‘The Head’ started out something like four years ago as a limited series only for six episodes and now it’s going into third season, so you might say we never lived up to our promises,” Tellem joked on stage at an early Iberseries panel, entitled Creative Content Strategies, where he shared the stage with former Netflix international head Erik Barmack, now at L.A.-based Wild Sheep Content.
Season 3 has yet to receive a production greenlight. The Mediapro Studio aims to produce ‘The Head,’ Season 3 out of Spain. Beyond that, Tellem gave few details. Currently in development, the series is being written by writers from four countries in three different continents.

In June, Berlin's Sinema Transtopia presented “Echoes from South Asia”, a program curated by Arindam Sen, devoted to experimental cinema from the region. The main focus was on the works of Sri Lankan, Bengali, Hindi and diasporic filmmakers from the subcontinent. The selection offered a plethora of approaches towards nonfiction filmmaking, and brought to light films which usually functioned in obscurity, either only in academic contexts, or as examples of niche experimental filmmaking.
The main themes of the programmed films that came to the fore tackled issues of social justice, homelessness, labour rights and (self-)exotification, with the filmmakers interest in nonlinear (or even nonnarrative) forms of filmmaking becoming the overarching feature. With many of the films made in the 70s and 80s, on the back of the revolution of highly politicized Third Cinema of the 60s, the filmmakers were keen on rejecting the traditional modes of storytelling. What’s the darkest moment you’ve ever seen in a rock ‘n’ roll documentary? Up until now, I’d have said the answer was obvious: the sequence in “Gimme Shelter” where Meredith Hunter, in his lime-green suit, rushes the stage at Altamont with a gun in his hand and gets stabbed in the back, half a dozen times, by a member of the Hell’s Angels. For pure heart of darkness, what could top that? But I’ve just seen “Catching Fire” (formerly titled “Anita”), Svetlana Zill and Alexis Bloom’s very good documentary about Anita Pallenberg — beautiful and imperious scenester of the ’60s and ’70s, Hollywood actress and icon of scruffy-chic rock royalty, partner of Keith Richards, muse to several of the other Rolling Stones. And there’s a moment in it that made me suck in my breath in shock and horror as much as “Gimme Shelter” does.

With season finales come the question of “what’s next”? And, as TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek of the Apple TV+ drama shows, that’s also a question that Dee Dee (Connie Britton) will have to ask herself on Dear Edward in the March 24 episode. “What’s with grief group ending after three months?” she wonders. “It’s not like we’re magically cured just because the airline is so cheap they won’t pay for more sessions.” And no, it’s not that she doesn’t have a life to get back to like other people do. “I do, I have a very full life, just Fyi,” she insists. And, as she sees it, “these people need me a lot more than I need them.” Watch the clip above for more. In the season finale, entitled “Shelter,” Lacey (Taylor Schilling) and John (Carter Hudson) search for Edward (Colin O’Brien...

"So... not a standard smash & grab." "This is gonna get us killed." Lionsgate has revealed an official trailer for a thriller titled Righteous Thieves, the new title for a film formerly known as Shelter. It will be out to watch in March on VOD and in a few theaters if anyone is interested. This is a story we've heard many times before (rescue stolen art) but they're rehashing it once again. The head of a secret organization assembles a crew to steal back artwork plundered by Nazis during World War II. They plan to recover a Monet, Picasso, Degas, and Van Gogh stolen by Nazis during WWII – now in the possession of neo-Nazi billionaire oligarch, but loyalties are tested when the crew learns the real reason behind the heist. The film stars Lisa Vidal as Annabel, with Jaina Lee Ortiz, Cam Gigandet, Carlos Miranda, Sasha Merci, and Brian Cousins as the oligarch.

Stellan appeared in a small role in Paul Bettany’s screenwriting and directorial debut Shelter in 2014, but he seems to be pursuing a career in classical composition and songwriting now. Smriti Mundhra cannot be pigeonholed into one oeuvre. The creator of Netflix’s popular “Indian Matchmaking,” which released its second season recently, directed two episodes of Mindy Kaling’s “Never Have I Ever” for the same streamer, and a segment of Brie Larson’s upcoming Disney+ docuseries “Growing Up.” Her “Shelter” doc short on homelessness is nominated for a news and documentary Emmy, as part of HBO Max series “Through Our Eyes.”
Mundhra, whose father, Jagmohan, was also a filmmaker and ran the Culver City theater Meralta, took that name for her production company. “What I love about making films and this work is that it puts a human face on these kinds of big problems.”
Mundhra says viewers are drawn to “Indian Matchmaking” because it engages with topics that we don’t talk about a lot. “Some of it is cringey,” she says. “Some of the things we do...

“The Wilds” will be taking off from the runway for Season 3: Prime Video has canceled the popular YA survival series after two seasons, TheWrap has confirmed.
Season 2, which expanded the show’s narrative with the addition of an all-male high school “control group,” premiered on the streamer May 6, delayed by two-and-a-half years as a result of the pandemic.
Despite having premiered a year earlier, the series has drawn comparisons with the Emmy-nominated “Yellowjackets” (which began development and shooting on its pilot around the same time in 2020) for its focus on a group of girls who get stranded following a plane crash. That’s where the two shows’ similarities end: The misfortune the high schoolers in “The Wilds” face stems from a larger conspiracy experiment led by Dawn of Eve founder Gretchen Klein (Rachel Griffiths), who posits that women can run a better society against all obstacles. The girls are...

“January,” Viesturs Kairiss’s autobiographical film set in the former Soviet Union, has been acquired for world sales by The Yellow Affair. The movie will have its world premiere at Tribeca in the international narrative competition.
The coming-of-age film sheds light on the political upheaval in the early 1990’s. It follows a Jazis, a 19 year-old aspiring cinematographer who, along with his friends, is trying to pursue his dreams of making movies and enjoy the freedom of young adulthood. His world is thrown into chaos as he is dragged into the people’s peaceful protests against the Soviet Army’s attempted takeover of power in his country.
Kairiss, who co-wrote “January” with Andris Feldmanis and Livia Ulman, said it was a highly personal film for him.
“I was 19 in January 1991, so I am very familiar with the protagonists and events of the film. At that age, I was fighting for my...

On February 21, Yuliia Chumak and Alona Ksenofontova, two sisters living in Kyiv — both professionals in the Ukrainian film industry, one a production coordinator, the other a hair and makeup artist — decided to take a trip to Barcelona to celebrate Alona’s 34th birthday. They arrived in warm, sunny Spain and spent a few idyllic days shopping and touring the city sights, having a blast, snapping photos to send back to their parents and friends.
On the evening of the 23rd, they shut off their phones, chatted a bit about dressing up for Alona’s birthday on the 24th, then went to bed.
The next morning, when they switched their phones on again, they figured the flood of messages that had poured in while they slept were birthday congratulations.
They weren’t.
That day, Vladimir Putin’s Russian Army invaded Ukraine, sending tanks and troops across the northern border with Belarus,...
