In 2016, Cheryl Burke was asked on a podcast who her all-time least favorite dance partner on the show was, and told them it was Ian Ziering in Season 4. Burke stated that she hated working with Ziering so much it made her "want to slit my wrists" and that she kept begging ABC to find a way to vote them off the show after the first week (they ended up in the Final 4). Burke would later apologize, not to Ziering for insulting him, but for using the unfortunate suicide analogy in discussing the situation.
