The episode's titular eyewitness footage complements the famous "Zapruder Film" which shows John F. Kennedy getting shot in the back of his limousine. The blocky building seen at the beginning of the shaky clip is the Texas School Book Depostory, in which Lee Harvey Oswald had built his sniper's nest.
When Klaus wants to give his follower in the jail cell some phony wisdom, he quotes the chorus from TLC's hit song "Waterfalls" by saying, "Don't go chasing waterfalls, please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you're used to".
Raymond Chestnut corrects Klaus's Shakespeare quote. The quote "Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown" is indeed Shakespeare. It's from the play King Henry IV, Act III, Scene I. The subsequent quote "Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them" is from Twelfth Night, Act II, Scene V.
