- Elliot: [came knocking, bearing gift] Hi, Cleo. Is Kim home?
- [Cleo points into living room where her little sister is watching a music video]
- Emma: [to Cleo] What's he doing here?
- Elliot: Hi, Kim.
- [she tries to peer past him at the TV screen]
- Elliot: Can I ask you a question?
- Kim: Sure. Do it a bit more to your left. You're blocking my view.
- Elliot: [faltering] I was wondering if you're interested...
- Kim: [squinting] What's in the box?
- Elliot: Uh... gum. Sour lemon, your favorite.
- Kim: You're kidding! A whole box? That must have cost you a fortune.
- [grimaces:]
- Kim: So obviously you want something. What is it? Come on, spit it out.
- Elliot: Will you go out with me?
- [eavesdropping Emma suppresses a giggle]
- Kim: You? What can you possibly offer me?
- Elliot: More gum?
- Kim: How much did you say these cost you?
- Elliot: Nineteen dollars and fifty cents. But don't worry, there's plenty more where that came from. I've been saving since I was five.
- Kim: All right, Elliot. You got yourself a deal.
- [as he sits down next to his girlfriend:]
- Kim: How much do you know about... maths?
- Cleo: This is gonna be a disaster.
- Emma: I think it's cute.
- Emma: What did you say to Elliot?
- Lewis: I just gave him some friendly advice.
- Emma: Thanks, Lewis. Now he's been totally suckered in by Kim.
- Lewis: Whoa. Elliot's crush is on Kim?
- [shudders, shakes his head]
- Lewis: Poor guy.
- Emma: Yeah, and thanks to you, she's got him wrapped around her little finger.
- Lewis: Yeah. But Kim...
- [frowns]
- Emma: Lewis, you started this, you're gonna fix it.
- Lewis: I am? Yeah, I mean, I am. Sure.
- [nods]
- Lewis: How?
- Emma: [smiles, pats him on the shoulder] We'll work something out.
- [goes off]
