Elliot : [with riding cap] This is so cool! I can't wait to get my own horse.
Lisa : [laughs, holds up hands] Slow down. We only agreed to these lessons to see if you like riding. Nothing was mentioned about owning your own horse.
Emma : Don't hold your breath, Elliot. Dad promised me a pony for years, and it still hasn't arrived.
Lisa : To be fair, Emma, the last time you were on a pony, you were petrified of it.
[Elliot nods, smirks]
Emma : [shakes her head] I don't know why you're wasting all this money on lessons. I could teach him.
Lisa : I think that's best left to the professionals, don't you?
Emma : Mom, I was a natural. It's not something you lose.
Lisa : I'm glad to see you're still so interested, because I need you to go with Elliot.
[which dismays Elliot]
Emma : What?
Lisa : Because he's too young to go on his own.
Elliot : No, I'm not!
Lisa : Yes, you are. Anyway, I'm busy, I have a hairdressing appointment, and I'd really appreciate it, Em.

Elliot : [chuckling, at Emma's expense] It was so funny. She fell right into the water trough.
Rikki : All right, Emma, what did you do to the nasty horsey?
Emma : I didn't do anything to it.
Elliot : Yes, you did. You should have listened to Ash.
Cleo : Elliot! Don't you have to go play soccer or something?
Elliot : I can't wait. We're going horse-riding again in the morning.
Emma : Correction. You're going horse-riding, I'm staying right here.
Elliot : Come on, sis, you have to come. The course finishes tomorrow. We're going on a trail ride and everything. Ash said...
Emma : Ash, Ash, Ash! I really don't care what Ash said.
[Rikki and Cleo share knowing looks, while Elliot pleads with his eyes]
Emma : All right, I'll go.
Elliot : Yes!
[goes off]
Rikki : [smiling] This Ash guy's got you all torn up... doesn't he?
Cleo : He must be cute.
Rikki : Off-the-scale cute.
Emma : He is not cute. Even if he is, it's got nothing to do with it. He's insensitive, and arrogant, and thinks he knows everything.
Rikki : Oh, I like him already.
Emma : [snaps] Well, I don't!
Cleo : Emma... sometimes you can be a little... competitive.
[Rikki nods]
Cleo : Just take it easy, talk to him.

Elliot : [hero worship] And you should see Ash jump Rebel. He can leap a fence three meters high...
[Emma makes it clear she's not impressed at all]
Elliot : Right, Ash?
Ash : Uh... yeah, sure.
Rikki : So, Ash, Emma tells us she learned a lot from you.
[Emma is aghast]
Rikki : From when she first saw you, she was... very impressed.
Ash : Well, she's a slow learner, but... I'm sure if she learns to relax, she'll get there.
Emma : I think I've had enough.
[rises from dining table]
Emma : And if you're finished...
[grabs plate, his as well, heads for sink]
Ash : [grinning] Well, I was... hoping for seconds.
[but she's off]
Ash : Yeah, I guess I'm finished.
