Every comedian worth their weight in cheap motels has a “Saturday Night Live” rejection story, it’s only after their careers take off that anyone cares to hear them. In an interview with Vanity Fair, “Master of None” star Noël Wells had some choice words for the comedy giant, whom she calls “Comedy dinosaurs.”

“’S.N.L.’ is the comedy establishment,” said Wells, promoting her directorial debut which she also wrote and stars in, “Mr. Roosevelt” at SXSW.
“Of course you want to go through that, because you want that stamp of approval. But it has its own identity, and our voices didn’t mesh for whatever reason—or they decided we didn’t belong. I think a lot of us would have liked to keep trying and have our own voices shine through. For whatever reason,...

They first came to the big screen two years after Gremlins, but they didn’t need to be fed after midnight in order to become evil. The ferocious alien furballs of 1986’s Critters and its three sequels look to pay Earth another visit in an upcoming series from Warner Bros.’ Blue Ribbon Content, a new label that focuses on creating live action programs for digital platforms.
Blue Ribbon Content is wasting no time herding shows towards production. Today, the recently launched label announced three series orders—Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles, an Untitled Mortal Kombat Series, and Play It Again, Dick—as well as a slew of in-development programs, including a live action Critters series:
“Critters — Blue Ribbon revisits the world of the legendary New Line Cinema cult classic movie franchise, as a new batch of alien pests descends upon the planet in this new digital series written...

Question: Will there be more fallout from Juliette and Jeff’s hook-up on Nashville? Please tell me it won’t break up her and Avery! — Nat
Ausiello: Downside: I hear Juliette will likely find herself with child (a move that would mirror Hayden Panettiere’s still-unconfirmed real-life pregnancy) when Season 3 picks up, but by whom? You’ll recall, she knocked cowboy boots with both Jeff and Avery near the end of the season. Upside: Both Ms. Barnes and...

We've seen the pilots of ABC's new shows, and while they're not for review (things often change drastically before the shows are set to premiere), we do want to share our first reactions to what's coming in the fall and midseason.
This quick guide is designed to get you excited for some new shows ... and to warn you to curb your enthusiasm for others. Just keep in mind that we'll have full reviews of the final pilots closer to airdate. For now, here are our snap judgments of ABC's new shows for the 2013-2014 TV season.

There are eight new scripted shows coming to ABC that were ready to preview, and all of them left us with questions. Will funny lady Rebel Wilson charm on a sitcom? Can a show about a trophy wife manage to be endearing? And is a drama about life...

ABC has ordered "Super Fun Night," starring Rebel Wilson, to series, along with other comedies "The Goldbergs," "Back in the Game," "Mixology" and "Trophy Wife."
The half-hour "Super Fun Night" centers on Junior attorney Kimmie Boubier (Wilson) and her two best friends Helen-Alice (Liza Lapira) and Marika (Lauren Ash), who have had a standing date every Friday night for the last 13 years. They even have a motto for what they call “Friday Night Fun Night”: “Always together! Always Inside!”
However, Kimmie’s recent promotion throws a monkey wrench into the tradition. Not only is she now working with her idol, “Lady Lawyer of the Year” Felicity Vanderstone (Kelen Coleman), but she meets a dashingly handsome British attorney, Richard Lovell (Kevin Bishop), who invites her to his party at a trendy club. Determined to spend time with Richard and heed Felicity’s advice to network, Kimmie sets out to...

We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, we’re lobbing queries left and right about shows including How I Met Your Mother, Revolution, The Voice and New Girl!
1 | Which Grimm visual made you gag harder: The Sandman’s incredibly gross tongue or his spooned-out fly eyeball?
2 | Who did “Zou Bisou Bisou” better: Mad Men‘s Megan or Degrassi‘s Zig?
3 | Do any Revenge viewers actually care what happens to Padma? (Bueller…?) And were we alone in thinking Jack hadn’t bought the story about Kenny Ryan’s boat?

Naya Rivera and Darren Criss perform during the 2013 Kids' Inaugural.
Birthday shoutouts go to Emma Bunton, who is 37, and Billy Ocean is 63. Here's his greatest song (and video), which peaked at #2 in February 1985.
Brace yourselves, those of a certain age ...Atari has filed for bankruptcy. A sad collective shudder just echoed across a New Mexico landfill. Charlotte Rae is shopping around her memoir, The Facts Of My Life, in which she reveals that her husband of 25 years came out as gay and divorced her. In ratings news, Football proved to be a disaster for ABC's lineup, with both Once Upon A Time and Revenge experiencing season low double digit drops. James Franco wrote an Inauguration Poem. David Sedaris has given the film version of his short story C.O.G. (which stars Jonathon Groff and Casey Wilson) a thumbs up.Below you can see the movie's director Kyle Patrick Alvarez talk about its journey to the screen.

BBC America has ordered a second season of Copper. I've been totally sucked into the show and its period setting, so I' m thrilled to get another season
ABC will work to adapt the BBC series Rev. I've been hearing about the original, so I guess its time I tried harder to check it out.
In unsurprising news, PETA is thrilled that Animal Practice has been cancelled.
TLC aired a special called My Giant Face Tumor. Sounds like they've found a new way to lower the bar. (Hmm, Lowering the Bar might make a better name for the channel than TLC.)
For those of you who are interested, TVLine has a detailed breakdown on the complexities of ratings in the current digital age. It covers how DVR viewership affects a show's future, when DVR viewers count and how season...

Hungry for some TV snacks? We're happy to oblige.
-It appears "Scrubs" cast just can't get enough of each other. After showing up on "Cougar Town" for an on-air reunion of sorts, Zach Braff is hooking up with his partner in bromance, Donald Faison, for a guest role on Faison's TV Land sitcom "The Exes." Braff will appear on the Aug. 29 episode as Chuck Feeney, a professional tennis player and client of Faison's character. He's a rumored ladies' man who might not actually be that interested in the ladies, if you get our drift. [The Hollywood Reporter]
-Hilary Duff, known in some circles as little Lizzie McGuire (she's now a married mother, in case you want to feel old), is ready for her big TV comeback. She's appeared every now and then on the small screen since her Disney Channel comedy ended (on shows like "Community" and "Gossip Girl"), but Duff is looking for a full-time gig.

(Former) shock rocker (is he all that shocking anymore?) Marilyn Manson seems to be enjoying this whole acting thing. He's done bit parts here and there over the years ("Party Monster" and "Jawbreaker" among them), but it seems he's taking a bigger step toward movie roles. He already has a stint in Quentin Dupieux's "Wrong Cops" and how he's headed to cable. Brian Warner will stretch his wings playing himself in a guest spot on Showtime's "Californication" starring David Duchovny. Production on the series is now underway and you can see the longawaited Manson/Duchovny pairing in 2013 on the seventh season's seventh episode. [THR]

Former Friends David Schwimmer and Lisa Kudrow will soon reunite on the latter’s new Showtime series, Web Therapy.
Schwimmer has booked a four-episode arc on the comedy’s upcoming Season 2, EW.com reports, playing a man who was traumatized after witnessing a “romantic encounter” between his father and Kudrow’s character, Fiona. What’s more, he’s now only attracted to women who resemble the therapist. Hmm, wonder if he knows she has a sassy twin who waits tables in NYC?
A Season 1 stop-by from Courteney Cox marked Web Therapy‘s first reunion of Friends.

Henry Cavill is on a 5,000 calorie/day diet to bulk up to play Superman in Man of Steel. Before you get jealous, it's not like he's eating cookies and ice cream. Protein and carbs, and brutal multi-hour workouts are required.
Despite the period setting for ABC's Pan Am, you won't be seeing any of the stewardesses smoking. That was a huge part of the 1960's flying experience. And lest you think the show sets back the women's movement, the stars say this was the beginning of the movement, with college educated women who often spoke several languages stepping into the ranks of the employed.
