Fin calls the character played by Justin McCarthy "Wax Man". Justin played a different character in season 8's Loophole (2007) who had an ear wax problem, and constantly had q-tips in his ears. A funny throwback for anyone paying attention.
Method Man and Christopher Meloni previously appeared together on the HBO series Oz (1997). Many actors that appeared in 'Oz' have made guest appearances on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999).
In 2007, when this episode aired, minors as young as 14 were allowed to marry under New York state law, providing they obtained parental and court permission. In 2017, New York passed a child marriage law, which banned marriage completely for under 17-year-olds, and children aged 17-18 needed parental and court approval. In July 2021, New York became the sixth state to end all marriage before age 18, without exceptions.
The Doctor says "He's an epileptic. He tested positive for phenytoin. His EEG confirms it". Phenytoin, sold under the brand name Dilantin among others, is an anti-seizure medication. The electroencephalogram (EEG), is a medical test used to measure the electrical activity of the brain.
The Doctor says "He's postictal, and highly prone to suggestion". The postictal state is the altered state of consciousness after an epileptic seizure. It usually lasts between 5 and 30 minutes before the person returns to baseline condition, but it can sometimes last longer in the case of larger, or more severe seizures. It is characterized by drowsiness, confusion, nausea, hypertension, headache or migraine, and other disorienting symptoms.
