Simple but Poignant premise

The suspense you feel will be worth it.

All it takes is a never ending stairway and an elderly woman with a cane, and you have a story. We encounter obstacles all around us on a daily basis but none as daunting as when someone who just wants to get home.

A brilliant short film.

Short films never get the respect they deserve, from those who do not work in the film industry (just as short stories never do when it comes to the written word, even if it is Edgar Allen Poe, or O. Henry).

This -- is a gem. It manages to build suspense, and then ups the ante' -- and then ups it again -- until the absolutely brilliant climax at the end. All, superbly done, and in less than 5 minutes.

All of the elements come together. The cinematography, the incredible stairs, the sound, and a wonderful performance by Joyce Porter. Kudos to the director, Jeph Porter.

The film (No spoilers, here)... is one half-Hitchcock and it is also one-half Twilight Zone.

Then, I remember how hard it is to tell a story (beginning, middle, and end), in less than five minutes. The maxim that one should "throw out everything that does not belong" is what makes this film work so well, and with such satisfaction.

Thanks, Jeph Porter. Thanks, Michael Lux. And, thanks, Joyce Porter, who absolutely made me care. Wonderful.

Perfect little gem of a film

.This film seems like an innocuous tale going nowhere, but becomes a clever construct with a great performance and good cinematography.

You may think you see the ending coming or that you don't care, but you don't see it,and you will care.

One of films who, after its end, suggest to you to be grateful to the actress and director.

A so, so simple story. One characters. An apartment. And the thrill becoming more and more than intense.

A cane and an accident intensifieng the tension.

A good fist of supposition from dementia to afterlife.

In short, a precious small gem and remarkable work of Joyce Porter. Not very often you have the occasion to fall in love with a short horror. This film is just that film and , after final credits, you are just fascinated by its brilliant simplicity.

In short, stairs, a door, a venerable ladz and her precious cane.

Stairs is a solid solo performance.

Joyce Porter gives an understated and brilliant portrayal of a helpless senior citizen attempting to complete a simple task. She simply wants to make it safely home. Extraordinary cinematography and acting. This is a must see!

I like the premise of this film and the performance by Joyce Porter really sells it. It is directed well with great shot selection. I'll be looking for more by all involved!
