Imaginary, the latest team-up between Blumhouse and director Jeff Wadlow – who had previously collaborated on the 2018 film Truth or Dare and the 2020 horror version of Fantasy Island – reached theatres on March 8th, and it hasn’t set the box office on fire during its tow and a half week theatrical run, pulling in just under $29 million at the global box office. Now Lionsgate has given the film a PVOD (that’s Premium Video on Demand) and Pest (that’s Premium Electronic Sell-Through) release, so maybe more genre fans will check it out now that it’s available to watch in the comfort of our own homes.

Filled with stock scares, stock plot turns, and stock set pieces, Imaginary, writer-director Jeff Wadlow’s latest enfeebled effort, stumbles from its first moments through its last shot before the end credits mercifully roll and bored, disinterested moviegoers head for the exits. Hampered by surface-deep dialogue, a flailing cast that deserves better, and one too many rote set-pieces, Imaginary will, like the invisible “friend” at its center, gradually fade from the memories of anyone unlucky enough to find themselves watching it at a movie theater or at home in several weeks. Wasting a perfectly serviceable idea for the horror genre, a demon-possessed stuffed teddy bear, and shamelessly borrowing, or occasionally stealing, every supernatural horror cliche, Imaginary opens inside a...

We’re just one month away from the March 8th theatrical release date of the horror film Imaginary, the latest team-up between Blumhouse and director Jeff Wadlow – who had previously collaborated on the 2018 film Truth or Dare and the 2020 horror version of Fantasy Island. With that date swiftly approaching, a new trailer for Imaginary has arrived online, and you can check it out in the embed above.
The film sees DeWanda Wise of Jurassic World: Dominion taking on the role of Jessica, who moves back into her childhood home with her family, and her youngest stepdaughter Alice develops an eerie attachment to a stuffed bear named Chauncey. Not only do Blumhouse productions tend to have such low budgets that it’s difficult for them to fail, but the company also makes so much content that you never go too long without seeing a new release from them. So if one disappoints, they have another chance to impress soon after. The Exorcist: Believer wasn’t well-received? That’s okay, Five Nights at Freddy’s is right around the corner. Night Swim didn’t live up to the success they had with M3GAN last year? Well, let’s see how Imaginary does on March 8th. With the release of Imaginary just one month away, a new poster for the film has arrived online and can be seen at the bottom of this article.

Ron DeSantis repeatedly pledged to “never back down.” His campaign even recently released a song from country singer Billy Dean entitled, “Never Back Down.” But now, the Florida governor is doing just that.
On Sunday afternoon, DeSantis announced he is suspending his 2024 campaign and endorsed former President Donald Trump, who spent the last year humiliating him. DeSantis’ decision to exit the race comes two days before the New Hampshire primary, in which polls indicate he would finish third. The GOP primary is now a two-person race between Trump and former South Carolina Gov.

Robert Bigelow has realized that building inflatable, orbiting motels is only the second-most ridiculous way he’s burning cash. The ultra-wealthy hotel magnate, who has donated more than $20 million to the pro-Ron DeSantis super Pac “Never Back Down” told Reuters on Friday that the presidential candidate needs to make major changes before he’ll give him another cent.
Bigelow is the largest individual contributor to “Never Back Down,” and his comments to Reuters reflect a pattern of discontent amongst DeSantis donors, who are guarding their wallets as the Florida Governor’s polling slips.

In the streaming era, there's no shortage of steamy, new-adult romance dramas to choose between - think: the "After" series, "Euphoria," and "Bridgerton" - so any new project entering into the genre's landscape has to set itself apart. Thankfully, Kiana Madeira, Ross Butler, and Matthew Noszka's new movie "Perfect Addiction," which hit Amazon Prime Video on April 14, succeeds at that with flying colors.
The movie follows a mixed martial arts trainer named Sienna (Madeira) who - after devoting much of her life to training and taking care of her reigning champion fighter boyfriend, Jax (Noszka) - finds out he's been cheating on her with her sister. Set on getting revenge, Sienna begins training Jax's nemesis Kayden (Butler) to beat him in the ring. But when their training sessions spark real feelings, Sienna has to figure out what's more important: her newfound feelings for Kayden or her obsession with getting back at her ex.

After working together on the 2018 film Truth or Dare and the 2020 horror version of Fantasy Island, director Jeff Wadlow and Blumhouse Productions are now collaborating on another horror project called Imaginary. Deadline reports that Lionsgate has acquired the worldwide rights to the film.
Wadlow has written the screenplay for Imaginary with Greg Erb, Jason Oremland, and Bryce McGuire, crafting the following story: A young woman returns to her childhood home only to discover that the imaginary friend she left behind is very real and very unhappy she left.
So it sounds sort of like a horrific take on the 1991 comedy Drop Dead Fred.
Lionsgate and Blumhouse are hoping to get Imaginary into production in the spring, so Wadlow is currently working to assemble the cast for the film. Lionsgate and Blumhouse are co-financing the project, with Lionsgate planning to present Imaginary to potential buyers at the European Film Market later this month.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! And with its list of new releases for December 2022, Hulu is planning accordingly.
Compared to its rival streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video, and HBO Max, Hulu is a bit more holiday forward in the final month of 2022. Sure, all the streaming services are bringing some Christmas content to the table, but Hulu is the only one to plant its flag in a special called It’s a Wonderful Binge. This comedic take on a psychedelic Purge-like Christmas is set to premiere on Dec. 8.
Elsewhere on Hulu this month, subscribers can look forward to the release of FX’s Kindred (Dec. 13). Based on a thrilling novel of the same name, this series follows a woman being violently yanked back and forth in time. In what’s increasingly become a tradition, Canadian comedy Letterkenny will premiere a new season the day after Christmas.

It’s been a big year for Prime Video. From The Boys season 3 to The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power to even the terrible games presented on Thursday Night Football, there were many hits to satisfy Jeff Bezos’ bottom line. How is the Amazon streamer planning on closing out 2022? Why, with another potential hit, of course!
Amazon Prime Video’s list of new releases for December 2022 is highlighted by the return of an old favorite. Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan season 3 premieres all eight episodes on Dec. 21. This time around John Krasinki’s CIA analyst will be dealing with a potentially nuclear conflict with Russia. The only other original TV series of note this month is Three Pines on Dec. 2. The mystery series stars Alfred Molina as Chief Inspector Armand Gamache.
Over on the movie side of things, Prime Video is bringing forward a major holiday tile on Dec.

The Yule log is likely roaring on the fireplace of your TV screen — the holidays are upon us. Hulu is going all-in on their Christmas content with a few holiday features, including the debut of their original movie “It’s a Wonderful Binge.” But if you’re looking for a new television series to keep you busy till Christmas it’s all about the adaptation of Octavia Butler’s “Kindred,” the first television translation of any of Butler’s acclaimed literary works, coming to FX on Hulu this month.
Based on Butler’s 1979 novel, “Kindred” focuses on Dana James, a young Black aspiring writer living in Los Angeles with her husband Kevin Franklin. While in the process of moving, Dana abruptly finds herself tossed between the modern day and 1815 Maryland during the Antebellum period of the South. During her journeys to the past, she struggles to survive while trapped at...

It’s time to get the hot cocoa boiling and the holiday decorations up! It’s almost December and nearly every streaming service has consumers covered with both seasonal content and new shows to carry them into the new year. Amazon’s Prime Video service has a few new series debuting, including “Riches.” Starring Deborah Ayorinde, from “Them,” the series is described as “a high-stakes family drama about the exploits of the stylish, privileged, and super-successful Richards siblings vying for control over the family business.”
The streamer also brings actor John Krasinski back into the world of Tom Clancy with the third season of “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan.” This installment finds CIA officer Jack Ryan wrongly accused of treason and on the run from his own government as he races against the clock to stop a global catastrophe. "This is our house - we are not about to die here!" Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a Halloween horror comedy called The Curse of Bridge Hollow, from director Jeff Wadlow. It looks like Netflix has made their own same concept, different characters version of the story also in Spirit Halloween: The Movie. A father and his teenage daughter are forced to team up and save their town after an ancient and mischievous spirit causes Halloween decorations to come to life and wreak havoc. The film stars Marlon Wayans and Priah Ferguson as the father and daughter, along with a fun comedy cast including Kelly Rowland, Rob Riggle, John Michael Higgins, Nia Vardalos, Lauren Lapkus, Holly J. Barrett, Myles Vincent Perez, Abi Monterey, and Helen Slayton-Hughes. Well, thankfully this doesn't look as bad as the usual Wayans comedies, but it still seems like dumb fun anyway. ›››

Blowback is yet another film that begins somewhere in the midst of the story before cutting back to the beginning. In this case, the beginning is Nick playing chess with his hospitalized daughter. She needs an experimental, and expensive treatment to save her life. But a rideshare driver’s paycheck isn’t going to cover that.
Fortunately, he’s not exactly the most honest of people and knows a few people if you know what I mean. He gets a lead on some extremely valuable thumb drives being held at a local bank and decides to pull off a heist. Right from the start he makes a big mistake and involves his ex Veronica (Michele Plaia; Cloudy with a Chance of Sunshine) and her current man Jack.

This article contains spoilers for Dmz episode 1.
There’s never really an ideal time to premiere a TV show about war.
Invariably, someone somewhere on the globe is experiencing the brutal destruction of armed combat at any given moment, making a fictionalized depiction of it a dicey proposition for any storyteller. This is a lesson that HBO Max limited series Dmz understands quite intimately.
The DC comic upon which HBO Max’s series is based was first released in 2005 and served as a commentary on its era’s wars in the Middle East. The comic’s storyline, which imagined a second American civil war turning Manhattan into a desolate demilitarized zone between two warring factions, could have just as easily been set in Baghdad, Iraq or Kabul, Afghanistan. It was a way to present to the Western world that their worst case post-apocalyptic scenario was someone else’s unavoidable present.

According to the guitarist for the nu-metal band Snot, Limp Bizkit Still Sucks is more than a tour name. Mikey Doling has taken issue with Limp Bizkit enlisting a rapper who calls himself $not on their upcoming spring trek.
“I wanted to say to Fred Durst, if you see this video, how dare you, man?” Doling said in a since-deleted video, per Blabbermouth. “You were friends with Snot. Snot loved you, man. You came onstage with us and performed. Lynn [Strait, late Snot frontman] went on stage with you in Boston. … We were friends.

After Kellie Madison released the proof of concept short The Gate, the high octane film became a viral sensation with 4 million views and it got her the job directing Never Back Down: Revolt, a low budget action film back by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment that got released recently.
With that film under her belt, Madison is hoping to make the leap to direct the feature version of the short that put her on the map. Briarcliff Entertainment’s Tom Ortenberg is taking the concept out to financiers. The short stars Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s Amy Johnston and The Raid 2’s Cecep Arif in a violent struggle by a young woman to save her suicidal sister, whose soul is about to be captured by an unsavory Indonesian crime boss. It leads to a larger adventure to find a pathway to ultimate power, called The Gate.

While the first day of spring technically belongs to March, everyone knows that it kicks into high gear in April. To celebrate the changing of the seasons, Hulu is finally bringing back its signature original series for April 2021.
Season 4 of the multiple Emmy award-winning The Handmaid’s Tale premieres on April 28. It’s been awhile since we’ve seen June and her dystopian world. In fact, it’s been so long that our own world decided to endure its own dystopian pandemic in the meantime. Hopefully this series’ return will mean we can keep our political and social collapses on television where they belong.
Aside from The Handmaid’s Tale, Hulu isn’t brining much else to the table in terms of originals this month. Thankfully, the one other original that Hulu has in store for April sounds completely righteous. Sasquatch, the latest docuseries from the Duplass brothers producing team, will cover exactly what the title promises.

The Midnight Society’s campfire was restoked—figuratively and literally—for the 2019 Halloween season by Nickelodeon’s Are You Afraid of the Dark? three-episode miniseries, which enticed audiences old and new for more chilling exploits from a new generation of the classic kid coterie of scare-chasers. Thus, the network subsequently greenlit Season 2, this time for six episodes, which begin their weekly run in February.
Are You Afraid of the Dark?: Curse of the Shadows is the title of Season 2, indicating that the series will again eschew its classic single-episode story format to utilize the entirety of a season to tell one epic story, having moved on from the 2019 miniseries storyline centered on demented ringmaster Mr. Tophat and his Carnival of Doom. Moreover, we’re already getting an all-new Midnight Society; a lineup tasked with pursuing a mysterious creature called the Shadowman.

Spooky season is upon us, and Hulu is getting into the spirit with a number of horror or Halloween-themed offerings on its October line-up.
Along with Hulu originals like the horror anthology “Into the Dark” and the second season of Stephen King’s “Castle Rock,” the streamer is also offering films from the “Saw,” “Blade” and “Hellraiser” franchises beginning next month. For the more faint of heart, Hulu is also offering three seasons of Food Network’s “Halloween Wars” and the surely adorable “Kids Halloween Baking Championship.”
Not specifically Halloween-themed, but potentially haunting: All six seasons of the original run of “The Hills” will be available to stream on Oct. 1 for those looking to revisit the halcyon days of reality television and questionable late-aughts fashion.

It is certain that a “Magic 8 Ball” movie is in the works. In fact, you may rely on it.
A movie centered on the fortune-telling toy, which dates back to the 1950s, is being developed by Mattel Films and Blumhouse Productions. “Fantasy Island” director Jeff Wadlow is attached to helm and will script with collaborators Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach.
The sooth-saying device contains a white 20-sided die floating in blue-tinted alcohol. Each of the die’s 20 faces has a brief message — 10 affirmative, five negative, and five non-committal — read through a window on the ball’s bottom. The replies are to be looked at after asking the ball a yes–no question and include “It is certain,” “You may rely on it,” “Better not tell you now,” “Ask again later,” “Don’t count on it” and “Outlook not so good.”

Jeff Wadlow, the director of Sony’s upcoming Fantasy Island big-screen adaptation, is set to direct Danger Girl for Constantin Film Ag with shooting to begin in 2020.
Danger Girl, described as a priority production for the Munich-based Constantin Film, will adapt the namesake comic book series co-created by fan-favorite artist J. Scott Campbell (Gen 13) and writer Andy Hartnell and published since 2012 by Idw Publishing of San Diego. The Danger Girl series celebrated its 20th anniversary last year and is known for high-velocity action, winking humor, and its scantily clad squad of super-spy protagonists.
The long-enduring comic book brand follows the adventures of lead character Abbey Chase, who is reluctantly recruited into an all-female secret organization.

“Truth or Dare” director Jeff Wadlow has come on board to helm “Danger Girl,” an action-adventure for Constantin Film.
Wadlow, who is in production on Sony’s “Fantasy Island” movie, will also perform rewrites on the script. Umair Aleem wrote the initial drafts, based on the female-team comic book series “Danger Girl,” created by J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell. Shooting is expected to begin next year.
“Danger Girl,” launched in 1988 and still being published with new issues by Idw, follows the adventures of Abbey Chase, who is reluctantly recruited into an all-female secret spy organization. Chase is then paired with operatives Sydney Savage, Natalia Kasstle and “Silicon Val” to locate a series of objects with destructive power and keep them out of the hands of the Hammer Syndicate.
Producers describe Abbey Chase as one of the most iconic female comic book characters along with Captain Marvel, Black Widow, and Wonder Woman.

Christmas may be more than a month away, but that isn’t stopping streaming platforms from adding some holiday cheer to their November lineups.
Beginning with the animated film “Angela’s Christmas” on Nov. 1, Netflix is adding several holiday movies to its streaming slate, including “The Holiday Calendar,” “The Princess Switch,” and “A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding.” Hulu and Amazon Prime are also following suit with “A Cinderella Christmas” on Nov. 15 and “Christmas With the Kranks” on Nov. 1, respectively.
November is also seeing the premiere of several platform originals, including the final season of Netflix’s “House of Cards” and Julia Roberts’ Amazon Prime debut, “Homecoming.” The documentary “McQueen” is also joining Amazon’s slate while Netflix will launch “Doctor Strange,” “Sixteen Candles,” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.” Hulu will see a similarly large influx of new films, including “Goldeneye,” “Amelie,” and “Kick-Ass.”
