- Ed Green: Oh, hey, lieu. I just came back to get my date book and some personal stuff.
- Anita Van Buren: Maybe I should have a look at it. Apparently, there's a lot I never knew about you, Ed.
- Ed Green: Look, the gambling... I got back into it when Lennie left.
- Anita Van Buren: Well, partners aren't forever.
- Ed Green: Yeah. Then Lennie died.
- Anita Van Buren: So you found comfort in a speakeasy on 121st Street.
- Ed Green: As a matter of fact, yeah. I did.
- Anita Van Buren: You know, April's going to be okay. But it wasn't just about her, was it?
- Ed Green: No. I've been a cop, a gambler, about twelve other things that don't necessarily go together that well. How do you do it?
- Anita Van Buren: One foot in front of the other for thirty years.
- Ed Green: [standing to leave] I'll let you know where I land. Thank you, lieu.
- [last lines]
- Cyrus Lupo: Hey, Ed.
- Ed Green: Hey. Thank you.
- Cyrus Lupo: Thank me? For what? For digging up the evidence that got you arrested or digging up the girl that you wanted hidden?
- Ed Green: For being a good cop.
- Kevin Bernard: What the hell do you got going on, huh? You got CSU ransacking my crime scene.
- Cyrus Lupo: [handing him a ballistics report] Yeah, well, then I guess this is yours. It's a slug from Bunny's gun. They found it in a storefront around the corner. He was shooting away from Green.
- Kevin Bernard: Bunny was shooting at somebody else.
- Cyrus Lupo: Yeah.
- Kevin Bernard: Who?
- Cyrus Lupo: Yeah. How did Green know somebody else was looking for Bunny? He make any calls after he left here?
- Kevin Bernard: We ran his cell phone records. Nothing.
- Cyrus Lupo: Well, he stopped at a gas station in New Jersey. Think there might be a phone there?
- Kevin Bernard: How about you take a ride with me?
- Cyrus Lupo: What, me and you?
- Kevin Bernard: Yeah. Carpool. Saves gas.
- Anita Van Buren: They dropped the charge. There's no criminal case. Dismissal isn't automatic.
- Ed Green: I broke every rule in the book and you know it.
- Anita Van Buren: You can fight it.
- Ed Green: I think... I think I am just too worn out to fight right now.
- Cyrus Lupo: [at the crime scene] Got some blood.
- Ed Green: That's a shell from a .380.
- Cyrus Lupo: [finding a cell phone] Look at this. Last call was at 10:04 p.m. from someone named Angela. Wife?
- Ed Green: Or widow.
- Connie Rubirosa: I'm guessing there was something else you wanted to talk about.
- Cyrus Lupo: Looks like I took it to the wrong office.
- Connie Rubirosa: I have my own office.
- Cyrus Lupo: All right. I got a statement you should see.
- Michael Cutter: If you were planning on demolishing one of our witnesses, you might have, you know, mentioned it to me.
- Connie Rubirosa: Well, sometimes the only way to get your attention is to actually do something.
- Michael Cutter: You got that stuff from Lupo?
- [Connie nods]
- Michael Cutter: Okay. So we forget this witness. But that doesn't mean this isn't murder.
- Connie Rubirosa: Even if Bunny was facing Green?
- Michael Cutter: Even if Bunny fired first, if Green wanted him to.
- Connie Rubirosa: Wanted somebody to shoot at him?
- Michael Cutter: Well, what if he did? He knew Bunny was gonna be arrested, and he didn't want him opening his mouth about their history. So Green ditches his partner, goes after the guy without backup, which makes it more likely that a hothead like Bunny will draw his gun. It's dark, Bunny's caught by surprise, and he's not a marksman, but Green is and he's ready. So on the surface, it's self-defense, but Green's intent makes it murder.
- Connie Rubirosa: That's arguable.
- Michael Cutter: Well, I'm pretty good at arguing. That's how I got this job.
