A masterclass of a show and a finale
christianolenoski15 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This finale was truly remarkable. I was concerned about them not answering a lot of our questions, but i feel so satisfied with how the series ended. SPOILER ALERT MOVING FORWARD

I think each of the characters' endings were beautiful. Tegan ending up with Annalise, Connor and Oliver breaking up for Connor to go to jail and then be endgame in the future (proving they have always relied on each other no matter what), Nate moving on to his own justice center, Laurel letting Christopher be a mentee to Annalise and moving past her family, Gabriel moving away with his mom, Michaela being alone but she's always been there for herself and becoming a Supreme Court Justice. The most heartbreaking part to me was Frank and Bonnie both dying. It was truly a Bonnie and Clyde moment, and I loved it. The scene was so intense and sad, but so powerful and showed there can be beauty in chaos. And Annalise, god her ending was so beautiful. Viola Davis is a masterclass actor and deserves EVERY award for that court room scene. I'm so happy she got the ending she deserved, a happy life after all of this insanity and still surrounded by the people that loved her and those she helped when he died.

The finale was truly amazing, and so was this show. I've followed along all 6 years and seasons. It taught me to truly be who I am and that there's beauty in chaos. Thank you, How to Get Away with Murder - the cast, crew, everyone involved - for one of the best shows ever.

Now THIS is how you close-out a series and finale! 🙌
Top_Dawg_Critic20 May 2020
WOW. This has to be the epitome of writing perfection for a season/series finale. No close second place for this being the best finale I have ever seen - and needs to win every award possible.

I always hated flash forwards and when I jumped to the conclusion, I was shocked and disappointed, but always though in the back of my head, "no way this will be another fail season finale like GOT etc., the writers are way better than that, and I was not disappointed. This was the best mind f**k any writer could've given their audience. Outstanding! Thank you Peter Nowalk.

My gut was wrenching and tears dripping with the outstanding performances and resolution of Bonnie and Frank. Incredible how the writers ended off Nate's 180-turn relationship with Annalise. Next to the outstanding Viola Davis as Annalise Keating, Billy Brown as Nate, and especially Charlie Weber and Liza Weil as Frank and Bonnie, were my favorite characters and actors. They never deviated from their persona - right until the very end of the show. For that matter, I can't think of any other show with such a variety of personalities in its characters than this show. You fall in love with all of them - with the odd hate, then back to love every now and then. These characters, and their amazing and convincing performances, will forever be etched in my mind.

So sad this show has come to an end, but as we know, all good things eventually have to, and this one did it in style, grace, and with perfection.

R.I.P. HTGAWM! It's a no-brainer perfect 10/10 from me

Fantastic send off to an exceptional series!

I hated to see How To Get Away With Murder end, but the finale was beyond my expectations! The twists and turns, the return of actors, the tribute to dead characters during the trial, the montage at the funeral and the closing scene back in the classroom where it all started is storytelling at it's best.

The best series finale I've ever watched. Right next to Six Feet Under and Breaking Bad, it's that good!

I was so scared that they would ruin the finale for us but wow just wow! I am tongue-tied. It's a "bitter-sweet" one. The one where you smile as hard as you can yet crying your eyes out. Thank you Viola Davis for letting me crying my eyes out. You're amazing. The best actress I've ever see!

This episode had my deep soul. When Annalise talked to the juries, I couldn't hold my tears, and my body shivered! She is such a powerful actress. The end made me so happy. They managed to connect the pilot episode to the finale so beautifully with a little with WHAT? Goodby to my favorite show! I hope I see another show as powerful as this one ...

Wonderful Ending

Warning: Spoilers
Most shows haven't a clue how to end their shows properly. This was a great ending. I got a bit emotional, especially how we lost Bonnie and Frank, and the fact that the group all split up. So happy Connor and Oliver stayed together though. It was a sad end, but still worthy of such an amazing and powerful show. What a stellar cast with amazing performances. I will really miss watching this every week. RIP x

The only show to do it right
Sophie_KN_6661513 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Shows barely get the ending right - you can't please everyone but I think the writers pulled a rabbit out the hat with this. Really great ending!

**LOTS OF SPOILERS**

1. First off Frank and Bonnie. That just about broke my heart. Frank would have hated himself if he knew he got Bonnie killed but Bonnie couldn't have lived with herself if Frank had died either so there really was no way through for them. If only Bonnie hadn't told Frank the truth! I would have liked to have seen clips of their funeral because they were family to Annalise as much as her own mother. Really sad ending for them but romantic in a Bonnie & Clyde/Romeo & Juliet type way

2. So happy Annalise got to live a long life and ended up with Tegan! I loved those two together. The writers really tricked us with the younger picture of her! Annalise deserved a happy ending

3. I really didn't see the twist coming of Wes being Chris! That was great! Lovely to see Laurel with him and that he had been mentored by Annalise. It came around full circle and him seeing her in the audience was beautiful. This whole season I thought Wes wasn't really dead!

4. Glad that Connor and Oil ended up back together. Connor was never really bad at heart so I'm glad he found a way to get redemption

5. Nate and Michaela were the only 2 endings I didn't like. They were both terrible characters who never got their comeuppance. Nate was a serial murdered who didn't care who he hurt to get what he wanted. He had no morals! And Michaela was an evil, lying, manipulative, hypocritical sociopath! And she became supreme judge with children?! Both of these characters should have had endings they deserved

Really going to miss this show but so happy with the ending

Perfect ending to one of the Best Female Lead characters ever
josuecri15 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The story really comes full circle regarding Analise's story arc and character devolopment... she really deserved to be happy... and she was right, she never killed... They really tricked us, we beleived that somehow Wes was alive, but the actor was just playing Christopher... closing the story with how it began... moreover it was really emotional... Amazing series finale

I know a lot of people liked this but, eh.
drcombs30 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I certainly enjoyed the elements of mystery and surprise throughout the show, but I have some qualms, which I think might be a bit baseless but it's just my opinion so take my words with a grain of salt.

1) Not a big fan of them building the relationship between Bonnie and Frank the entire season (and arguably the end of the 5th season) and then they just ... die. I dunno, but to me, it seemed like a waste of development, y'know? It made their arc throughout the series feel a bit weak. However, I will say that both of them couldn't really live with the things they'd done, no pun intended, which puts the writers in a difficult situation to make it all work out smoothly. It does seem like a logical choice.

2) That ageing makeup was a bit silly. Again, not to do really with the overall quality of the show, but it was hard to take seriously.

3) Jeez ... Alfred Enoch's cameo being limited to a half-hearted Spanish accent.

4) It felt weird that a lot of the characters spent time trying to convince Michaela that she was better than what she thought and still she doesn't change. I guess the point of it is that she won't prioritize morals, but personally, it felt juxtaposed to the largely positive note that the series ended on. Obviously nothing will be perfect, but I dunno, guess that's just how I felt.

Ok qualms aside, I was very happy with the conclusion of Annalise's story, as well as Connor and Oliver. I'm glad that Tegan and Annalise got together, it was a long time coming and it felt right.

Overall, I wasn't crazy about it, but it was mostly satisfactory.

Another Game of Thrones end
giorgospappao1316 May 2020
Are you kidding me?This show had great writing and acting and this end simply wasnt enough. A series of coincidences, random deaths and a pointless cameo. I am deeply disappointed because of the series progration all these years. It was very interisting at first (showing an important think that happens at the end of the season and then constracting the narrative) but after a while it became more and more predictable and boring. It's never your first though nor what the series is pretending to be so after a while you ran out of options and logic paths. I don't want to spoil anything so the only thing i am going to say is that this series deserved better

A true masterpiece. A real rollercoaster experience.King of its genre. It will become a classic in time. Why ? Because it will become Timeless
eren_anefi15 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
From my perspective this is the best finale of a series I have ever seen. It's incredible how it was thought from the start, namely how it goes a full circle. Annalise's speech was heartbreaking, her words really summed up the entire series, the ups and downs of her insane life and how she managed to keep going after all she has been through. The romantic way Frank and Bonnie went, even if sad to tears, it remains a brilliant moment and a perfect way to encapsulate their love story. From all the series, they were truly loyal to the end to the one person who cared for them. To conclude, the end was excellent, never have I thought that the events of the funeral were taken in the future, thus it surprises the audience yet again, after several shocking moments. By showing Wes's son, instead of him at that moment really did one hell of a job to let the audience stunned. After that, it goes full ciricle, Annalise is dead of old age, the twisted and romantic tale of Frank and Bonnie is brought on a pedestal, more precise, their relation will reflect the theme " Love until the very bitter end", which from my perspective can bring peace to the characters. Nonetheless, the remaining of the "Keating 5" found peace in a way or in another. Thus, I think it is a perfect ending to a great and breathtaking series. I truly believe that this series will pass the test of time and will be a "Classic" of its genre. Why a classic? Because it will be timeless.

The Ending of A Beautiful Mess
Brainscreens25 May 2020
Raw, real and uncomfortable, that's how this amazing show ended. I was shocked and happy and sad all at the same time, Annalise gives me the strength to be who I am even if it's my biggest fear, this series is more than just a show, it's a message and a lesson that applies to humanity in it's true form.

Everyone got what they deserved
lexif716 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The reason I enjoyed this finale is because everyone got what they deserved. There was good and bad in everyone's fate, which only make sense, because there is good and bad in all of them. The ending with Christopher riding his bike through campus made me so nostalgic for the first season, which is exactly what it was meant to do. I thought the decision to have him teach "How to Get Away with Murder" and end it exactly how the show began was perfect, especially since it felt as if it was Wes delivering the line. And who knows - maybe the cycle will start all over again with new students.

Astonishing
Hitchcoc10 July 2020
Once again some kluck gives this a one. This was an astonishingly well written episode to finish the series. There were no contrivances other than giving us a final view of the characters and their fates. Michaela who was the first to sell out ends up by herself with her career intact and that manipulative father. Others face the music, some dying. I had binged on this before and am not much of a TV watcher during prime time. When Netflix finished it off, I was so excited. Not every episode was perfect, but then it steamrolled to the end. I've always considered Breaking Bad my favorite series. This one isn't too far behind (apples and oranges anyway). Viola Davis is a national treasure.

Amazing Series FINALE.

Warning: Spoilers
I still have my jaw on the floor. Let me go and pick it up. Viola Davis is a tremendous actress. Everything was tied up nicely. My only complaint are the fates of Bonnie and Frank but It's to be expected since they were tormented their entire lives. This was remarkable. THIS WAS Good work BY everyone....

Are you kidding with these high marks for the grand finale?
savvypatachonica23 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I suppose it makes some sense that only the super fans made it all the way to the end, and would give it such praise, but a 10? Lots and lots of 10s? I smell a pile of shills.

I struggled to get through season 6, but in for a penny in for a pound... figured I might as well finish. I honestly don't know where to begin, but it's just about as unsatisfying an ending of any series in history. We knew there was going to be a twist or two with the Annalise funeral teasers. That's fine I guess. But the whole season was aimless and meandering... and just ended with a mindless thud like a sack of doorknobs.

Oliver and Connor are getting a divorce! Oh wait they're now like 50 something and still together. Annalise was murdered?! No just Bonnie and Frank were shot but nobody cares. Annalise died of old age and magically got her life together I guess. Wes is still alive?! No, his son just looks like him with a haircut... Laurel's story? Pretty stupid and unresolved. Michaela? I can't even remember her at the very end, she became so irredeemable I started to block out her character.

What a terrible end to a show that had some potential.

I mean, it wasn't the worst
oonat8923 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Given season 6 was one of the most convoluted and weird seasons, the finale seems fitting, but also super rushed.

I hated the whole "flash forward and they're all old" thing... it's rarely done well on shows, and this is no exception. I also found the whole Christophe final focus lack lustre, as I couldn't have cared less about that kid, or either of his annoying parents... the Spanish accent also seemed weird since Laurel spoke English without one... you can raise children bilingual without their accents blurring...

Annalise's final closing was okay... but also fairly average given some of her amazing speeches throughout the season. Davis's performance was phenomenal (as always) though.

The saving grace for this episode may be use of the song "Dancing after Death" which definitely evoked all the feels for Frank and Bonnie's finale. But to me, kinda sent the message that people who had abusive childhoods have no hope...

The show was bingeworthy, with great acting, but wouldn't watch it again.
