Since Star Wars‘ inception, the technology presented in the galaxy far, far away has always been fascinating to viewers, whether it be the iconic lightsabers or the levitating Speeder bikes. Introduced first in A New Hope, speeders have undergone numerous evolutions with each passing release and remain one of the coolest aspects of the prequel trilogy.
But unlike their onscreen presentation, riding them on set was a disappointing experience for Natalie Portman, who previously spoke in support of the excessive use of blue screen in the prequels.

Anya Taylor-Joy makes a very brief appearance in Dune: Part Two, but if and when Denis Villeneuve returns to helm his adaptation of Dune: Messiah, the Furiosa star will have a much more substantial role.
If you haven't seen the movie yet, spoilers follow.
In Part One, we learn that Paul Atreides' mother, the Bene Gesserit Lady Jessica, is pregnant with the late Duke Leto's child. When the Fremen take in the survivors of the Harkonnen massacre, Jessica agrees to become the tribe's new Reverend Mother (she isn't really given a choice) and is "persuaded" to drink the Water of Life (a blue substance that's been extracted from a juvenile sandworm).
This gives Jessica incredible foresight and knowledge of previous generations, while also awakening similar abilities in her unborn daughter, who begins to communicate with and seemingly influence her mother's actions.

In Taika Waititi's 2022 film "Thor: Love and Thunder," an emotionally wounded man named Gorr (Christian Bale) has learned that the very real gods of the Marvel universe are selfish, uncaring, and are more interested in cavorting with nymphs and naiads than answering prayers. By happenstance, he comes into possession of a magical sword specifically designed for killing gods and takes on a quest to rid the universe of its living deities. "Love and Thunder" could have brought up some tantalizingly difficult questions about atheism, or the role of faith in the modern world. It could have mentioned the dubious function of gods in a universe that regularly produces superpowered uber-beings. It didn't. Instead, it was a whimsical slapstick comedy starring a hero who, like Homer Simpson, became dumber and dumber as the series progressed.

Marvel Studios and the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t what it used to be anymore. From failing movies to cringe scenes (just look at Thor: Love and Thunder), the MCU is suffering through the effects of post-Endgame clarity.
Disney’s current CEO, Bob Iger, recently unveiled a new plan for the Marvel Cinematic Universe which seems good (at first). However, it is the majority opinion of the people that this new plan isn’t going to work.

Maybe it is a bold statement, or a rude one, but all things considered, there is quite a noticeable difference observed in the MCU before Avengers: Endgame and the MCU today. Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man shepherded the MCU in its first three phases, leading the Avengers and being one of the leading heroes that catapulted the franchise to its peak. His journey from an arrogant and flamboyant billionaire to a selfless hero who sacrifices his life for the greater good has made him the most iconic character in the franchise.
Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame
The actor has played the character over 10 times in the MCU and that is an admirable record. However, another unlikely actor has surpassed Downey Jr. in terms of voicing several MCU characters. X-Men ’97 actor Ross Marquand now holds the record for the most voice roles in the MCU across different formats.

There's a case to be made that Chris Hemsworth is the most talented of the Marvel Studios Chrises. He's got great comedic energy and leaned into that with his later performances as Thor (even if he admittedly went overboard in "Thor: Love and Thunder"). His vengeance-driven God of Thunder is the highlight of "Infinity War" too.
He's also making interesting career choices. I'm a Captain America fan, but Chris Evans has not challenged himself as an actor since "Snowpiercer." ("Knives Out" was just him dusting off his pre-Cap screen persona of a cocky a-hole.) Chris Pratt has waltzed his way into being Hollywood's leading voice actor despite his anonymous performances in "The Super Mario Brothers" and soon, "The Garfield Movie." Hemsworth takes paycheck gigs (see: "Extraction" and his voice acting turn as young Optimus Prime in "Transformers: One" this coming Summer), but he shows ambition too. Without question, one of the most anticipated movies of the summer is "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga." Serving as a prequel to 2015's action masterpiece "Mad Max: Fury Road," director George Miller is finally back nearly a decade later to deliver the long-promised fifth entry in his legendary franchise. This time around, we have a familiar hero in Furiosa, now played by Anya Taylor-Joy ("The Queen's Gambit"), facing off against a new villain in Dementus, played by Chris Hemsworth ("Thor"). For Hemsworth, in particular, playing the villain in the latest "Mad Max" film was a scary prospect.
In a new cover story for Entertainment Weekly, Hemsworth revealed that he felt some trepidation in taking on the role. The actor, who has played Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for nearly 15 years, explained that it "scared the s*** out of me." Why would one of the biggest stars in the world...

We're used to seeing Chris Hemsworth kicking butt in the MCU as Thor, but in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, the actor will get to show a new side of himself as the twisted Dementus.
However, while these characters couldn't be any different, there's one thing they do have in common: a cape!
"It was a real departure, and it was nice...I was about to say it was nice not to wear a cape, but I did have a cape in this film," Hemsworth tells Entertainment Weekly. "And it's red - or it becomes red eventually, as well. The absurdity of that."
"There's a whole lot of rules that you have to stick to [with superhero films]," the actor continued. "It's not intentional to be a comparison of Thor, but I found a wonderful departure to it. To play the villain, transform, and inhabit a completely different physicality was a lot of fun.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga serves as a prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road; In fact, director George Miller has said that the movie will “butt up directly into Fury Road,” so what does that mean for Max Rockatansky?
Miller has previously said that Max is “lurking there in the background” of Furiosa, but he provided more detail on this “blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo” while speaking with Entertainment Weekly. The director confirms that Max and his car, the Interceptor, will appear in the prequel. “In doing what we did in the preparation of Mad Max: Fury Road, we also wrote what happened to Max in the year before we encounter him in [that film],” Miller said. “And as we get towards the end of this movie, the chronology… Basically, we had to see that Mad Max was lurking around somewhere because we do know what happened.” It sounds as though the Mad Max...

It won’t be wrong to say that Thor’s role is Chris Hemsworth’s magnum opus. The Norse god was one of Marvel’s original team of Avengers, even forming a part of the team that took on Loki and the Chitauri in the Battle of New York.
He’s been one of the mainstays in the Industry. No wonder that he felt sad with giving his faithfuls an experience to forget in Thor: Love and Thunder. The 2022 flick failed to build on the success of Thor: Ragnarok, one of the Men in Black: International star’s biggest regret. But there is another role that gave him a lot of headache.

Robert Downey Jr. won’t accept Chris Hemsworth’s gripes over Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As part of Hemsworth’s recent Vanity Fair cover story, the Thor star revealed he grew frustrated playing the Asgardian hero across four standalone movies and several more “Avengers” films.

What’s my character doing?’ It was always about, ‘You’ve got the wig on. You’ve got the muscles. You’ve got the costume. Thor Star Chris Hemsworth Reveals Whether He And Brother Liam Were Competing For God Of Thunder Role
When Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston were cast in Thor, they were largely dismissed as "nobodies." It seems Marvel Studios wanted unknowns, though, as we know of at least a few other names considered for the McU's God of Thunder, including Chris' brother, Liam.
He'd go on to star in The Hunger Games movies, famously dated Miley Cyrus, and is now gearing up to take over from Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia in the final two seasons of The Witcher.
Chris, now a major movie star with several franchises to his name, has opened up on both his and Liam's attempts to be cast as Thor, revealing that while they both auditioned, they were never going up against each other simultaneously.
Asked if he was worried about Liam landing the role instead of him, the Avengers: Endgame star responded, "No, 'cause I was told I didn't have the part at that point,...

Chris Hemsworth had his career-defining role in 2011 with the MCU film Thor. Since then, the actor has been in multiple Marvel films, playing the God of Thunder. While the actor has also appeared in films such as Extraction and Snow White and the Huntsman, he became a worldwide star and one of the highest-paid actors with the Thor and Avengers films.
However, the fourth solo film in the franchise, Thor: Love and Thunder was not as well-received as its predecessors. Despite being a commercial success, the film was criticized for its shoddy VFX and writing. Hemsworth has now come out and taken responsibility for the film’s disappointing response.

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ is widely seen as the weakest of Thor’s solo films in the MCU. Directed by Taika Waititi, it took a campy approach to Thor and his foe Gorr the God Butcher. This marked a significant departure from the more successful ‘Thor: Ragnarok.’
Chris Hemsworth admitted in an interview with Vanity Fair that he holds himself responsible for the movie’s shortcomings, regretting his role in mocking a beloved character.
Chris Hemsworth recognized that Marvel fans should get another ‘Thor’ movie after the letdown of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ in 2022. He had admitted before that the fourth movie was “too silly,” and it still weighs on him.
I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself. I didn’t stick the landing.
Hemsworth also confessed that he always felt his co-stars in the ‘Avengers’ movies had much cooler things to do.

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ is by far and wide accepted as the worst release in Thor’s standalone series in the MCU. Directed by Taika Waititi, the movie was a campy take on both Thor and one of his most notorious villains – Gorr the God Butcher.
It was definitely a drastic shift from ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ which is considered one of the best installments in the series. Now talking to Vanity Fair, Chris Hemsworth himself noted that he blames himself for the failure of the movie, and blames himself for accepting to ridicule such a well-established character.
Chris Hemsworth acknowledged that Marvel fans deserve another ‘Thor’ movie following the perceived disappointment of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ in 2022. He previously admitted that the fourth installment was ‘too silly,’ and this criticism seems to linger for him.

It seems Hemsworth is still not over the film’s bad reception among the audience. He has also revealed being frustrated with his role as the God of Thunder. Keep scrolling for more.
The fourth installment in his solo franchise was released in 2022, bringing back Natalie Portman as Jane Foster; in addition, the MCU movie featured Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher and Russell Crowe as Zeus. Despite the ensemble cast members, the film failed to create the desired magic on screen. It was deemed too silly, and director Taika Waititi was slammed for excessive comic elements in the movie.

Robert Downey Jr. thinks highly of one of his Avengers co-stars who had a much more difficult time figuring out his character in the initial stages of the MCU. Downey Jr. shared that Hemsworth’s character was a lot trickier to adapt than his billionaire playboy superhero, Chris Evans’ no-nonsense Cap, or Scarlett Johansson’s badass S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. Being a God figure, Hemsworth and the director of the first film, Kenneth Branagh, had to balance the character’s complex psyche.

Hollywood stars Chris Hemsworth and Robert Downey Jr are celebrating their ‘Avenger’ co-star Jeremy Renner’s recovery after his 2023 fatal snow plow accident. Hemsworth and Downey Jr said in a new interview that the crew is still in contact with each other via a group text chain, which is how they initially found out about Renner’s accident.
“He sent us all a sort of a doped out, hospital, beat-up image and said, ‘All good, guys.’ And then I didn’t hear from him for a while as he was in the thick of it,” Hemsworth said in an interview with Vanity Fair, reports deadline.com.
Last year in September, Renner attended Chris Evans’ wedding, where they all praised him for his recovery.

In the vast realm of Marvel Comics and among the plethora of enticing and intriguing characters, Thor, the God of Thunder, occupies a separate place and fan base. Known for his larger-than-life, regal personality, the comic version vastly differs from Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Fans have for years pointed out how the MCU took away the gravitas and depth of Thor by making him more humane and humorous, almost as if he was a parody of the comic book character. Hemsworth, in a new vulnerable and pretty intimate interview, revealed how he felt the same way about Thor.

In the Marvel Comics, when All-Father Odin first dubbed Thor as the God of Thunder, it was an ironic moniker, as the young crown prince of Asgard was terrified of thunderstorms as a child. Over time, Thor would go on to thoroughly earn this title after his life-altering exile in Midgard (Earth), explored in a milder capacity in Kenneth Branagh's "Thor," which cemented the character's irreplaceable status in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Chris Hemsworth's rendition of the character, when contrasted to its comic counterpart, emerges as delightfully layered: Hemsworth's Thor is a mixture of sincere self-seriousness and dorky obliviousness, with equal parts strength and vulnerability contributing to an extremely likable superhero persona. Despite the character's godlike status, Thor's presence in the MCU almost had a grounding effect, where complexity and levity went hand in hand to steer stories that brimmed with grit and heart.

Chris Hemsworth has once again reflected on his role in the poor reception to Thor: Love and Thunder, shouldering the blame for leaning too much into the extreme silliness of the film.
In a new cover story with Vanity Fair, Hemsworth explained, “I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself. I didn’t stick the landing.”
The star of the Thor franchise previously spoke about the fourth installment with GQ last year, detailing his worry that the movie may have been “too silly,” prompting him to “do some other stuff for a while.”

Chris Hemsworth is one of the most respected and well-known faces in Hollywood. Through his work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as the Extraction films, he has gained a lot of attention in the film industry. Despite this, there is one fact that is undeniable; he has not been seen in many challenging roles for him as an actor.

Chris Hemsworth doesn’t have a whole lot of love for “Thor: Love and Thunder,” but he’s got some thunder.
The actor told Vanity Fair that he feels like he “became a parody” of himself, and “didn’t stick the landing” to presumably cap off his tenure as the titular Marvel superhero.
“I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself,” Hemsworth said. “I didn’t stick the landing.”
That won’t be a problem with his next film. Hemsworth is set to star in George Miller’s “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” which will premiere at Cannes. He explained that the role is something like what he has been waiting exactly a decade for, and exemplifies his acting skills beyond just action-stardom.
Hemsworth hasn’t felt this way about a role since he played against-type for director Ron Howard in 2013’s “Rush.

Chris Hemsworth doesn’t love “Thor: Love and Thunder.”
In a new Vanity Fair profile, the Australian actor criticized his performance in the 2022 Marvel movie, his fourth outing as the hammer-wielding superhero Thor. And he’d like to do another “Thor” movie to make up for it.
“Love and Thunder” was the followup to 2017’s “Thor: Ragnarok,” which is widely considered to be the best “Thor” movie and one of the best Marvel movies overall. Both films are directed by Taika Waititi, who brought his playful, improv-heavy style of comedy to the franchise. But while “Ragnarok” is beloved for its sense of humor, Hemsworth thinks “Love and Thunder” took it too far.

Unlike Iron Man and Captain America, who became instant favorites among fans of the MCU, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor initially struggled to land his footing among the MCU greats. While his first film was far from a failure, it was still considered one of the weaker entries in the initial phases. On top of that, the critical failure of The Dark World would finally push the MCU to make some notable changes to the character.
As a result, we got Taika Waititi for the threequel, which not only surpassed the previous two entries in quality, Ragnarok ended up cementing itself as one of the best pre-Infinity War films. Unfortunately, the character once again hit a new low following the failure of Thor: Love and Thunder, and Hemsworth still hasn’t forgiven himself for this debacle.

Chris Hemsworth seems to have been having a lot of self-reflection and growth lately. Talking to Vanity Fair about his work as Thor, he discussed how much he loved playing Thor and how it was a great gift at age 25.
During his interview, which was mostly about Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Hemsworth did talk a bit about playing Thor. He addressed the last Thor film, saying, “I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself. I didn’t stick the landing.”
While the Marvel films did well overall, the last Thor film, “Thor: Love and Thunder,” has been a weak one in the MCU. However, recent entries have proven to be weaker, so there is that.
There was also Taika Waiti behind the film, so it was bound to be a bit wacky.

According to the origin of Marvel’s Thor, the All-Father Odin sends his son to Earth to learn humility. It sounds like Thor actor Chris Hemsworth has had to do the same thing.
Hemsworth’s Thor was riding high going into 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder, following 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, which won over fans who dismissed his first two solo outings, as well as the strong emotional arc in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. But for many, Love and Thunder pushed the wacky sensibilities of writer/director Taika Waititi too far, resulting in a movie too glib to be funny. And Hemsworth agrees.
“I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself,” the Aussie actor recently admitted to Vanity Fair. “I didn’t stick the landing.”
It’s easy to see why Hemsworth leaned so far into Waititi’s style for Love and Thunder.

Just before Avengers: Infinity War, many were pleased at the new life breathed into the Thor series when What We Do in the Shadows director Taika Waititi took on the undertaking of a big-budget franchise film. Thor: Ragnarok was a massive hit and it seemed like this new direction was a welcomed one for the God of Thunder. After Thor’s arc in the Infinity Saga seemingly concluded in Avengers: Endgame, it looked like some strange new adventures were on the horizon as he joined up with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Then, Thor: Love and Thunder would bring back Waititi and an impressive cast for what would ultimately have a less-than-stellar reception.

When Taika Waititi released “Thor: Ragnarok” in 2017, the refreshingly comedic take on God Of Thunder was overwhelmingly well received, with fans loving the more irreverent take on the Norse God. Most critics and fans still consider it the best “Thor” film. However, the same cannot be said about 2022’s “Thor: Love and Thunder,” which left a bad taste in the mouth of the same franchise enthusiasts— its humor dialed up far too wacky and extreme for most.

Chris Hemsworth is still wincing at the reception of Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder.
The actor looked back on the goofily disappointing 2022 Marvel movie in a new profile in Vanity Fair.

The profile noted that Hemsworth feels like he owes fans another Thor movie due to the fourth film’s reception.
The 40-year-old is perhaps being a bit hard on himself (something he admits he’s prone to do), given the film’s creative direction was largely driven by its co-writer and director, Taika Waititi, who previously led the Thor franchise to what’s universally considered its best film, 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. Chris Hemsworth has expressed his disappointment at Thor: Love And Thunder, and there are hints that he may reprise the Thor role one more time.
Released in 2022, Thor: Love And Thunder didn’t do too badly for Marvel Studios – in fact, compared to 2023 offerings Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels, its $760m box office sounds downright rosy.
One person who wasn’t entirely happy with the superhero sequel, though – or at least his performance in it – was its star, Chris Hemsworth. Less than two years after Love And Thunder emerged in cinemas, Hemsworth has suggested he “didn’t stick the landing.”

Chris Hemsworth graces the cover of Vanity Fair’s May 2024 issue, where he revealed that he feels Marvel fans deserve another “Thor” movie after the whiff that was 2022’s “Thor: Love and Thunder.” The actor already admitted to GQ last year that his fourth standalone “Thor” movie was “too silly” for its own good, but the misstep appears to continue to haunt him.
“I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself,” Hemsworth told Vanity Fair. “I didn’t stick the landing.”
While Hemsworth has always been grateful for his career-defining role as Thor, he admitted to the publication that he grew frustrated with the character while playing him in four standalone Marvel films and additional “Avengers” movies.
“Sometimes I felt like a security guard for the team,” Hemsworth said. “I would read everyone else’s lines, and go, ‘Oh, they got way cooler stuff.

Thor: Love and Thunder had all the makings of the best Marvel Studios movie ever. Heavily inspired by Jason Aaron's Thor run and featuring both The Mighty Thor and Gorr the God Butcher, the sequel has a lot going for it.
Among those plus points was Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi. He'd successfully reinvented the God of Thunder in that 2017 blockbuster and fans were excited to see what came next. Unfortunately, the result was a movie which largely disappointed fans and let down both its new and returning characters.
Waititi, who was given perhaps too much freedom with Thor: Love and Thunder, has largely shrugged off the complaints. Chris Hemsworth, however, has addressed them head-on and doesn't shy away from acknowledging where the movie fell short.

Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was a strange time for the franchise. The post-"Avengers: Endgame" era saw Kevin Feige and co. trying to shepherd the concept of the multiverse into our collective consciousness while simultaneously introducing a host of new heroes and somewhat reinventing the MCU for a new generation. Much of it worked well, with "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" holding things down on the cinematic front. Meanwhile, "WandaVision" and "Hawkeye" made a good case for the McU's streaming age being a good development — a case that was later ruined by the poorly-reviewed "Secret Invasion."
But for every good entry in Phase 4, there was a "Thor: Love and Thunder" or a "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" to undermine them. Thankfully, Phase 4 will always remain beloved for introducing us to one of the best arguments for the MCU expanding into the world of streaming television: "Loki.

The novelty of Christian Bale’s performance as the murderous and psychopathic Patrick Bateman in American Psycho is his inherent lust for murder. The cruel intentions that he keeps at bay despite the absolute façade of normality of his mask make his role even more seductive to the audience. However, the film was not the original piece of art from where the idea of Bateman was born.
Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman [Credit: Lionsgate Films]Originating from Robert Bloch’s 1959 novel Psycho featuring Norman Bates and adapted into a film of the same name by Alfred Hitchcock in 1960, Bret Easton Ellis’ novel is not a far throw from the mid-20th century author’s work. Ellis’ American Psycho is a more capitalist take on the classical psychopath against the backdrop of a modern world.

Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster tournament is back. While studios during Covid wildly embraced the theatrical day-and-date model when cinemas were closed, they soon realized there’s nothing more profitable than a theatrical release and the downstreams that come with it. If anything, theatrical is the advertisement for a movie’s longevity in subsequent home entertainment windows. Entering the conversation in 2023 were the streamers, such as Apple, who have also realized the necessity of theatrical to eventize their movies. The financial data pulled together here for Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster Tournament is culled by seasoned and trusted sources.
