Wonderful show!

I admit, I'm a fan of strongman competitions and often watch youtube videos where Brian and Eddie bicker back and forth. But all 4 man are beasts of nature and help enlighten viewers on the feasibility of feats of strength throughout history.

Excellent show. The sportsmanship is amazing. No drama. Awesome feats of strength. I use to watch the strongman competitions when I was younger. And this is that at its highest level. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 was because there was no heads up it was being filmed in Virginia. I would have traveled a hour to watch these guys live if it was an option. Always rooting for Nick!

These Guys are Great!
bluesteele3 August 2019
I've always enjoyed the various strongman competitions since I was a kid. They would show up at odd times on ESPN, and they were almost always repeats (in other words--very different from watching a live world championship . . . . sometimes you'd be watching a competition from 10 years ago!). But they were still captivating, especially when Americans began showing up in the top ten. Hard not to root for the homeboys and hang on for the final event to see who'd come out on top.

Brian Shaw is from nearby Colorado, and it's hard not to like the guy. He is like this 6'8" 450 pound 5 year old. Not arrogant (and a 4 time world champion has earned the right to arrogance!), but gentle and thoughtful. I began watching occasional "Shaw Strength" YouTube clips a few months ago--which often feature him going back and forth with Eddie Hall (England's strongman and one time world champion) like two brothers with a great sense of humor.

So this show has added two more giants to the roster and follows them through a series of well scripted on location competitions which are tied to some old school legendary feat of strength. You get this mix of giants throwing around objects the rest of us can only stare at, and the kind of humor that makes a lot of us recall from playing high school or college ball -- so it's very funny and very watchable.

The thing I like--the real world strongman competitions are not making any of these guys rich. Training is clearly a full time, 365 day a year occupation requiring significant investments in training equipment, coaches, and diet. Even at the elite level, the prize amounts are a fraction of what American professional football and basketball players get. Bravo to the History Channel for finding a way to leverage entertainment and helping to support someone like Brian Shaw financially. I hope this series makes it for a few years and helps these guys out!

How reality TV should be
vans-9426515 August 2019
I'm watching this show from the perspective of someone who knows nothing about strongman. The only one of the guys I'd heard of before this show was Brian Shaw from a YouTube video of his diet.

The premise of the show is 4 guys doing feats of strength usually loosely based on a historical event. While it's always impressive to see the lifts, what really carries the show is their charisma and camaraderie. All of the guys are extremely competitive and constantly are hassling one another. Pretty much all my favorite parts of the show is when they're just interacting with each other.

While I'm usually not the biggest fan of reality TV, this show is definitely an exception. Everything about this show is genuine and sometimes they fail. I don't think these guys would ever deceive the audience with weight, they all have way too much pride.

The show can feel a little padded out for time sometimes, but I think that just comes with the genre. It also definitely makes you feel lazy and weak when you see how yolked these dudes are. I'd recommend this to anyone.

Fantastic Show!

When I first saw the previews, I didn't think I would like this show. I figured "a bunch of meatheads showing off". I couldn't have been more wrong. These guys are intelligent and very entertaining. The respect they have for one another is heartwarming. Their feats of strength are AMAZING! Truly seem to be a bunch of good guys. I'm hooked and look forward to another season.

A fantastic show about an uderated sport
aj12184 August 2019
This show does have 4 of the strongest men in the world participating and recreating some of the craziest feats of strength and giving history and context to those events. It stars: Nick Best a dominate powerlifter turned strongman. Robert Oberst the second strongest American and perennial competitor in World's Stongest man. Eddie "the beast" Hall the man who holds the deadlift record at 500kg and winner of World's Stongest man. Finally Brian Shaw, who has won worlds strongest man 4 times. You will never find a sports show with this level of talent. This would be like having a show about basketball with Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird recreating and discussing some of the best moments in basketball history.

The stars also have great chemistry because they have known and compeated against each other for years. This show demonstrates some of the indominable will of the human spirit. I can't get enough. I hope it shines a brighter light on an uderated sport.

Strong men of History
hotrodsworld19 August 2019
I like this show for the fact that these 4 strong men compete with each other to see who can compare to history's strong men, In a friendly competition And you learn a little history of each strong man who did epic feats of strength in history. The camaraderie between Brian, Eddie, Nick, And Rob is great!

A must for strongmen fans

Great fun show. Four guys having fun and recreating historical strongman acts. Had me laughing out loud a lot. Especially when Oberst has to do the 'usual' in episode 3 after losing a bet!

Strength and Kindness
MVictorPjinsiste21 April 2021
It's good to see these strongmen doing the things that awed and delighted us for millenias, right there in perfect, competitive camaraderie. We especially like their eating feats around here.

But what amazed me more, in these days and times, is the (largely un-intentional) masculine message, one about kindness and strength in an epoch when both are getting quite rare, and sometimes even 'incorrect'. Made me realize how the history channels may be no longer about history, but are likely the last bastion of masculine values.

Anyway; I do wish these likeable fellows soon visit Quebec to take on Louis Cyr's or the Great Antonio's exploits, and maybe even enjoy a sugar shack dinner.

Authentic
spetnazrigger26 January 2020
As a powerlifter and dabbler in strongman it was awesome to watch the guys interact and compete. We don't get to see the non competitive sides of these guys too often and it was funny and refreshing to see they are no different than many of us in our respective gyms. Nick Best who I hadn't seen much of truly stood out with his character. All of them would be a blast to work out with or just interact with. Really hope the series keeps going after feats of strength around the world!

Great and entertaining show
cncventuresllc25 January 2021
We are so wrapped up in nonsense in this world we live in. It is a refreshing show with real people that have evolved into beasts. Great show. The kind of show you can just sit back and enjoy the impressive feats that have been achieved and some humor to go along with it. Hope they come back with additional seasons.

Besides the vote-manipulation, it's a good show
0w08 September 2019
History channel probably paid a bot-farm to give this show over 100 fake 10/10 votes, which is sad, but putting that aside, the show is pretty good... I've watched all 7 episodes already and it's good. There's 2 things that bother me however: DON'T tell me how to feel with your crappy music... I'm a human... I don't need your dogsh1t music to cue emotions... History channel needs to stop putting that obnoxious music into their shows and stop assuming that all their viewers are brain-dead imbeciles!

And secondly, they put a 31 y/o, 34 y/o and 37 y/o against a 50 y/o.. HOW is that fair? In a competition of strength & athleticism, how is the 50 y/o Nick Best EVER supposed to keep up with these guys and even stand a chance of winning each episode? It completely defeats the whole '4 strongmen on equal ground' fallacy and results in Nick bowing out every other episode almost.
