This is like someone put together shorts from Alter or Omeleto, it's pretty good! Antologies are always very hit or miss but all the ones in Source of Shadows were hit for me. Except the second segment which was way too short and supposed to be comedy but it was just stupid. All the rest however, I enjoyed very much- some beatifully shot, some with very good acting, some with interesting and original ideas. I want to go in detail for each one but I want to avoid making spoilers. If you like stuff like Demon(2017) or Field Guide to Evil, Source of Shadows is somewhere in between and I could recommend it.

A collection

Warning: Spoilers
Well this film is a collection of 10 short stories. However, I found only a few that was intriguing enough that I wanted it to be flushed out and made into feature length films & the rest of them are half baked ideas for that I am grateful it finished quickly. None of them were particular scary or nerve racking. It is the tired, tried Western ideas of fear & I much prefer the Asian counterparts. The exceptions being The conjuring, US, The Invisible Man,
Fake 10/10's as usual.

Total garbage, not even joke value

We start with a horrible rip-off of Bird cage that has nothing worth watching in it and then we start going downhill fast. Most of these shorts don't have any idea and don't make any sense, they are acted very badly and have no horror elements in them. At some point we get another "heavily inspired" by Bird cage short that is so bad that it's sad. Finally we get to a cartoon(!) obviously drawn by a child that can't draw for some demented reason and that is where I stopped watching this medley of feces.
Avoid at all costs, I can not fathom what was Amazon thinking for taking this failed turd in their video service - are you trying to insult your viewers??

A pretty decent little horror anthology

Horror is my #1 favorite, and anthology films are among my favorite of the genre. Its nice to break away from feature length plots now and then and instead watch a bunch of short ones all packed into roughly the same time frame. All of these shorts are shot nicely, too. The only thing I can say is some are a little hard to follow.
One review on here was saying how this anthology film is like way heavy handed on an LGBT theme, and I have to question if they accidently reviewed the wrong film because I failed to see that, like literally at all... So if for some reason you are reluctant becuase of that, don't let it mislead you. Anyway though, at the end of the day, this is worth a watch if you're into the horror anthologies!
Source of garbage

Anyone can write a 5 minutes story, well almost anyone,,,, cause some of these 5 minutes storys was not that well either- but mostly its not that hard to write something that short - so I dont think think this was so good, people who rate this over 6 are not honestly, because this is just a simple anthalogy, fast and short written, nothing new ,,,, some really bad and some little better, but none story is good ,,,,,, but I can give some good points cause of the acting, I think all the acting was good, and I think the production was pretty good aswell, it was only the storys that failed,,,....,
Solid compilation

For a shorts anthology there is some real merit.

I will not try to dress this up as anything more or less than it is... this is not a full length feature per se and can't really be judged by that. It is an anthology of 10 (yes 10) shorts, many of which might be perfect and worthy for YouTube. But this is not an insult. Anyone who peruses horror shorts on YouTube and who is a horror fan will know that there is some quality stuff released there and, in fact, many shorts found there have far more merit than many full length features that get green lit, and these days many of rising talents are using YouTube to get exposure.
Having 10 shorts means that their lengths are not long-- even shorter than what is found in most anthologies, so one can't expect long character development scenes or extensive explanations and plot development. Like many shorts they just take a scene or concept and give it credit for what it is, cutting to the chase and leaving the extended details for the viewer to fill in with their imaginations. Such is the case here... an assemblage of competent little mini stories, generally well crafted and acted. Of course, as with all anthologies, not every one will be a gem... I found one in particular to be quite bad, and a couple to be well done but too basic, but overall the viewing experience was worthwhile.
Note: they are not going for excessive gore or a lot of jump scares... while those can have their place this is not often that place. If that is what you look for exclusively this movie is not for you, but if you want some well crafted little horror shorts that have a bit of effort and love put into them, then you might find some of these tales to your liking.
I also was tempted to give this show a 6 instead of a 7... but I felt it deserved a bit more generosity than a lot of other reviewers might want to give it.

A horror anthology film for the ages

Great horror film
sunshinekiss-126 May 2020
This film is well curated and the shorts themselves are all high quality. One reviewer said he thought it would be "horror, like brutality" ...that is not what the horror genre is. It's also not always supposed to be crystal clear. Open your mind a little bit. Despite the loads of horribly unwatchable content that gets put into the world nowadays, this film managed to assemble shorts made by teams of talented, creative, innovative filmmakers. Horror fan or not, give it a shot and you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Worth the watch

Look, I get that it's an indie movie and people tend to hate on those a lot for some reason, but this is a solid flick and definitely worth watching. Suspenseful.
Also, that bearded beau in the Adrift segment is just wonderfully handsome. Call me?
