  Sam Davis : We are?

  Tom Sawyer : Sure. We're gonna do what he would've done on a hot day like this. In honor of his memory, instead'a goin' to school, we're gonna go to the swimmin' hole.

  Sam Davis : You mean play hooky?

  Tom Sawyer : Well sure, that what he would'a wanted us to do.

• Tom Sawyer : [Sam Davis pretends to attack Tom Sawyer with a tomahawk on the way]  Dang you, Sam Davis! That's a fool thing to do! What's the matter with you, anyways?

  Sam Davis : I'm an Indian, you're a brave cavalry officer. Yesterday you said I supposed to try and scalp you on the way to school today.

  Tom Sawyer : Well, that's yesterday. Things are different today. It's not every day you lose a friend like Huck.

  Sam Davis : I keep forgetting it happened. It don't seem possible.

  Tom Sawyer : Yeah, I've been walking and thinking about it. Life just don't seem worth living any more. It's like all the fun's gone out of it, along with him.

  Sam Davis : I think his Pap killed him, that's what I think.

  Tom Sawyer : Judge Thatcher said it could be robbers. But whoever it is, I'm gonna avenge Huck, just like it is in the books, and that's a sacred promise!
