Day 7: 4:00 a.m.-5:00 a.m. (2009)
Ravi Kapoor: Muhtadi Gohar
Quotes
-
Muhtadi Gohar : Please know that I forgive you.
Jack Bauer : I'm not asking for your forgiveness.
Muhtadi Gohar : Then I hope you can at least forgive yourself.
Jack Bauer : I gave up on that a long time ago.
Muhtadi Gohar : It's never too late to turn towards god, Mr. Bauer.
-
Muhtadi Gohar : [after Renee and Jack enter a mosque] what do you want?
Renee Walker : We're looking for a man who worships here: we believe he may be helping plan another attack that might be happening "soon" in DC
Muhtadi Gohar : I knew the blame would eventually fall on us
Renee Walker : [Hands him a photo] his name is Jibraan Al-Zarian. Do you know him?
Muhtadi Gohar : [Angered] why do you think his a terrorist?
Renee Walker : He "fits" a "specific profile"
Muhtadi Gohar : You mean his a Muslim?
Renee Walker : He's a Pakistani national: his visa lapsed a year ago and he has no legal address. He listed you as a personal reference on his INS form
Muhtadi Gohar : Who someone worships is private information protected under by law
Renee Walker : Right now finding Al-Zarian is the only way we're going to prevent an attack against civilians so I ask you again, sir, do you know him?
Jack Bauer : [Yells at Gohar] look at the photo
Muhtadi Gohar : [Reluctantly] yes I know him but he is not a terrorist
Renee Walker : What makes you so sure?
Muhtadi Gohar : Jibraan has come to me many times for spiritual advice, I know the man: he is not violent and he is not an "extremist"
Renee Walker : We have "evidence" that indicates otherwise
Muhtadi Gohar : I would like to see this "evidence"
Jack Bauer : [Walking up to him, gradually raising his voice] listen to me, we did not come here to "debate" this with you: where is this man?
Muhtadi Gohar : I don't know where he lives
Jack Bauer : Where does he work?
Muhtadi Gohar : I don't know that either
Jack Bauer : Then I don't believe you
Muhtadi Gohar : You expect me to believe you? I watched your hearing at the Senate, I know what you have done. Tell me, why should I believe anything you tell me?
Jack Bauer : First, because you don't have a choice, second, because I am telling you the "truth"
Muhtadi Gohar : [Scoffs] the "truth" is you come into our house of worship with information you should not have, an outrageous accusation, no legal warrant, and threaten me
Jack Bauer : I have not "threatened" you
Muhtadi Gohar : Not yet but we both know where "this" is going
Jack Bauer : If you're so sure his innocent, why are you so afraid to tell us?
Renee Walker : Jack...
Jack Bauer : [Yells] where is he?
Muhtadi Gohar : I told you I don't know but even if I did, I would say nothing. I would not help you arrest an innocent man
-
Chloe O'Brian : [Over the phone, while Renee drives him and Gohar to FBI headquarters] I found something weird about these hits on Jibraan Al-Zarian
Jack Bauer : Go ahead
Chloe O'Brian : You know when I said the two million dollars was deposited into his account over a period of six months? That wasn't right: they were backdated
Jack Bauer : What'd you mean?
Chloe O'Brian : One of the trace algorithms called a discrepancy, all that money was really deposited thirty minutes ago
Jack Bauer : What about the extremist websites he was visiting?
Chloe O'Brian : Same thing with the time stamps: the dates were backdated thirty minutes ago
Jack Bauer : Are you absolutely positive?
Chloe O'Brian : It looks that way, Jibraan could be innocent
Jack Bauer : [before hanging up] ok
Renee Walker : [to Jack] what's going on?
Jack Bauer : Chloe found evidence Jibraan was set up: he was framed
Renee Walker : Why would Almeida frame an innocent man?
Jack Bauer : Because they wouldn't want to risk the attack not being carried out properly, how could I be so stupid? An innocent man is so much easier to control: all they needed was a Muslim, they can create any background they wanted
Jack Bauer : [to Gohar before un-cuffing him] give me your hands
Muhtadi Gohar : I'm surprised
Jack Bauer : Why? You were right
Muhtadi Gohar : About Jibraan, my experience with the authorities is they would go to any lengths not to admit they were wrong, even at the expense of an innocent man's life. At least, you didn't do that
