Fun, cute musical episode

Tennessee Ernie Ford sings. Desi Junior plays multiple types of drums. Lucy and Gale Gordon square dance and mug for the camera. Lucie dances. And the singers Back Porch Majority performs. It is a cute show.

Farmer Ernie Epperson comes to the Employment Agency in need of laborers, so Lucy gets the idea of promoting his place as a Fun Farm to generate interest. Harry agrees to finance a commercial promoting it.

This episode lacks the humor of Tennessee Ernie Ford's appearances on I LOVE LUCY and THE LUCY SHOW. The "commercial" turns out to be more of an Infomercial as it takes up the bulk of the episode.

Lucy and Harry play a miserable bickering blue-collar couple with Kim and Craig as their delinquent kids. This skit leads into the musical numbers, which play like a cross between "Hee Haw" and "The Lawrence Welk Show". Ford sings "Little Green Apples", a recent Billboard #2 hit for O. C. Smith. Lucy is dressed like a milk maid and does the Mexican hat dance with Harry. Craig has a big drum solo number and Kim dances backed by a male chorus.

The musical portion is lively and well-choreographed, but this one is more variety show than sitcom.
