Excluding the disastrous gameplay, it was a good start

I didn't have high expectations for this game, seeing as how I've never been a Telltale fan, but I decided to give it a try anyway. In terms of gameplay, I was right: it's terrible. You spend two hours clicking the same buttons, doing the same quicktime events, looking for characters in the most boring way possible, and stopping every thirty minutes for a basic puzzle.

The animations are rough on the same level, especially the speech ones. The battle animations are well done in the style of Minecraft, but when the characters need to talk, the lines do not join with the movement of the mouths, becoming uncomfortable to watch. The game also has glitches every five minutes that completely take away from the immersion. I have to give credit to the voice actors of the protagonist and Petra, who do a great job, but in the others the lines are not well delivered, something that is even worse with the poorly done sound job.

But even so, the game is... good? The dialogues are terrible, I can't ignore that, but the characters are charismatic and fun. As an introductory episode, the game managed to make me root for them, not to mention that I had to stop at some points to decide which character to help. Placing them in a simple adventure, much of the game time was spent introducing important elements for the future, both in dialogue and actions, as well as lightly showing how each of the characters will act. It's hard to say whether they'll end up being simple and boring, or three-dimensional and interesting. One way or another, congrats Telltale, you made me like (almost) everyone.

The world of Minecraft is well used to create a story that, even if it is very simple, manages to be very interesting. The Order of the Stone is the classic group of heroes that aren't as perfect as you might think, making a great start to this journey. Nothing is really revealed at this start, leaving a good curiosity for the future. Also, the villain is scary and works very well in this world, seeing as how the Ender Dragon has already been defeated. Conclusion: it's a flawed chapter, unnecessarily basic, but one that amused me and created a great desire to see what will happen next, both with the world and with these characters that I am (maybe) starting to like.
