HI Bones Booth!
auntnatalie5 October 2021
I've watched Bones since it's premiere and it's been my comfort show ever since! My love for this show is real and true! That being said this ep is not a fav.

Bones is acting like such a brat with Max! And the bomb squad chick and Hodges is gag worthy! Angela scores with her take in the whole sitch!

Caroline storming the platform saying "Booth can shoot me later" kills me! Even she isn't exempt from her empty threat to let Booth shoot people!

Is it just me or is the A plot a little to close to Brennan's parents story?!

Magical evidence: Flag Watch😄

Angela & Hodges continue the hilarious quest to find her Fiji husband...he's a TITAN!

After the Season 2 finale and then The Widow's Son this ep was really kind of a let down. They can't all be bangers tho!

Drunk Booth gets it a 6

Hi The Bones Booth! Love the pod! My BIL works for the State Dept so I've spent a lot of time in the DC/VA area!

Warning: Spoilers
Ofcourse the whole van goes to the Jeffersonian. Really Hodgins staring like a creeper especially in front of Angela. Is there really a big difference between an outlaw and a criminal Max? Caroline coming in hot!!! " Booth can shoot me later" hahaha. I wouldn't want a relationship with my father if he was keeping score. Lol Zack with "Would you like my finger Dr. Brennan?" Ouch arrested the day of the funeral and finding out you killed her for a misunderstanding in one fell swoop. Poor Celia losing both her parents in such a short time. Drunk Booth is funny.

Mixed Reaction

The case here begins with a woman going to a soccer game and having her van blow up, killing her in a devastating fire. As this event is investigated, it is discovered that she was Symbionese Liberation type during the Sixties who was accused of killing a cop. She had a partner. The FBI had been after them for over 30 years. A cop who Booth has known for a long time has made the arrests of these two his whole purpose for living. He is all emotion and Brennan points that out. She tries to look at the events back then with an objective eye, while he has complete tunnel vision. A couple of distractions. A sexy new woman comes to the lab to help but has Hodgins drooling. Also, Brennan continues to try to figure her father out as he sits in prison.

Father/Daughter

This episode concentrates on trying to figure out why a soccer mom was blown up in her van. The story is interesting and involved a 30 year crime that was finally being put to rest.

Booth is also trying to get Brennan to have a relationship with her father. They argue over the fact a bit, but in the end, Brennan sees the errors of her ways and agrees, after a very sad conclusion to the case, that she needs to accept what her father is offering.

Booth celebrates by drinking way to much. As they sit outside looking at the Washington Monument, Booth drinks coffee trying to sober up. Like we've been seeing a lot of lately, Booth again makes physical contact with Brennan and she, of course, remains oblivious to what's happening in their relationship.

Warning: Spoilers
A soccer mom is blown up in her wood-paneled mini van. The FBI bomb tech sent to the Jeffersonian is a bombshell and this causes a lot of tension between Hodgins and Angela.

Caroline is upset to learn the identity of the victim, as the soccer mom was actually a wanted woman for 30 years who had just agreed to turn herself in.

Bones is allowed special visitation with Max in prison. She reluctantly takes advantage this of until Max wants her to use her influence to help him. Booth points out that Max is a con man, but that doesn't mean he doesn't love her. She gives dear ol' dad another shot and goes to play a game of blitz with him. I don't know what card game they were playing, but it wasn't blitz.

Drunk Booth is drunk!!

Booth helps out Bones.

Warning: Spoilers
Hi, Bones Booth podcast.

Booth is super supportive with Bones this week. He helps her see her father in prison, and after telling her about it, he grabs her and gives a quick side hug as they arrive at the crime scene. Bones seems a little flustered by this and bites the head of a nearby FBI tech guy. (raises one eyebrow at this. Why is she so affected by this display from Booth?) Bone's & Max storyline seems odd to me, and I cannot determine why.

The side story of Hodgins and Angela- She is so understanding. I'm not sure I would be that understanding with the way he's acting.

The episode is rescued by the rather excellent Caroline Julian. Who is not happy to discover that the body is her star witness. She also gets one of the best lines. Leave her be cher absence makes the heart grow fonder. Classic!

Yuck is all I can say about the bombshell from the bomb squad and Hodgins' interactions when working together. Sexist claptrap.

Ditto when Sam says if Bones were a man, he would hit her. Booth stands by and says nothing? Booth, this is shocking.

Bones, however, stands up for Both when she finds out that Sam is reading the file/report on Booths desk - saying that Booth should have it first as he's the lead. Sam takes another swipe at Bones, saying that she must be good in bed - wouldn't Booth like to find that out. Once again, Booth says very little - instead of saying that they should all stay focused.

Another great scene is Booth and Bones talking about Max. Where they have a small heart to heart about her relationship with her father.

Another Oh boy yucky scene - The breast gate - Hodgins said he was thinking about the bombshells' breasts dragging on the floor when she was 70! Oh please. No, that is terrible and indeed would not be allowed to be said today, thank god.

Instead of telling him off, Angela seduces him and suggests they go to the Medieval room.

The funniest scene is the car scene between Booth and Bones talking about male menopause and ageing. Booth is under pressure, a fact enhanced by Bones' large weapon.

When Bones reads the mothers letter to her Daughter and comforts her, with Booth looking on. Oh, so sad and touching.

I love the end scene with Bones and Booth, the latter drunk on the steps of the lincoln memorial. The talk they have is very touching. Once again, Booths need to help Bones out and touch her is a great ending to the show.

Meh

Warning: Spoilers
This episode feels very busy. I usually skip this one on a rewatch, probably because I can't STAND Sam. Why is everyone humoring him? He's the literal worst.

There are so many subplots. I feel like my attention is being pulled in too many directions. The reveal of the killer felt rushed and incomplete.

Miscellaneous thoughts from this episode:

Get it together, Hodgins, for the love of god. He's one of my favorite characters, but watching him this episode was physically painful. Angela can do better.

Yay, Caroline!! I love seeing her put Sam in his place while everyone else seems to tip toe around him. Put him in the trash where he belongs.

When do we make the permanent switch to the Angelatron? I forgot this 3D projector tool existed.

Love the guest appearance of Brennan's gun.

The green screen in front of the Lincoln Memorial is better than last episode's green screen (which was a low bar).

Overall, a very meh episode for me.

Hi Bones Booth! Love the pod.
